About Me
Through the birth of Hip-Hop, the use of colorful lingo in our everyday speech has become a tradition. For the Harlem-born, Bronx-raised lyricist GRAMZ, it means freedom. So often we are introduced to an artist who tells the story of how he "found his voice." In GRAMZ case, the music found him. The 18 year old has a presence and confidence that belies his young age. But it comes with the territory of virtually having to raise oneself and being exposed to the vices of New York City nightlife at an early age. GRAMZ knows all too well the draw of the drug game, and for awhile, was a part of that dangerous world. Life led him to a jail cell, which ironically became his way out. Because his freedom had been taken from him, he was forced to realize the gift of rhyme he didnt even know he had. While other inmates dreamt of regret or revenge, GRAMZ honed his rapping skills, showcasing them in the prison courtyards, to his former fellow gang members, and later in his neighborhood...Eventually successfully carving a niche for himself as a gifted freestylist. Functioning these days as a celebrated punch-line (battle) rapper, metaphors and similes flow effortlessly from him, rendering challengers speechless, and garnering GRAMZ much deserved respect. About his creative moniker, the driven rapper reflects, On the streets of New York, we say "thats crack" to describe whats hot. Thats how I came by my namegoing by GRAMZ reminds me of where Ive been, and helps me focus on where I want to be. I want to weigh in, so to speak, with the big dawgs...except this time, RAP is my hustle. The multi-faceted artist (add R&B songwriter and producer to his list of talents) hopes to someday create a musical empire the likes of Russell Simmons, Dame Dash and P.Diddy, all of whom he cites as great examples of that New York initiative. His music is written to incite, inspire, and encourage any who hear it. GRAMZ is the kind of artist that will have listeners anticipating not only his next hot track, but the lyrics he composes as well. Currently recording his highly anticipated debut release, GRAMZ has found a new "freedom"...inside the rhyme" / Get Your Own Voice Player Manage
