It's the Simple Things in Life

About Me

IF YOUR SHIP DOSEN'T COME IN, SWIM OUT TO IT
Okay I'm a quote-aholic, so here are a few more for your reading pleasure:
"We are prone to jude success by the index of our salaries or the size of our automobilies, rather than the quality of our service and our relationship to humanity". Martin Luther King
"The secret of success in life is to be ready for opportunity when it comes".
"Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. It means to be in a midst of those things and still be calm in your heart." (My personal favorite)
I've reached the point in my life, where sometimes I just have to stop and make sure I'm heading in the right direction. It seems that I'm so focused on trying to accomplish so many things that I can lose sight on what's important.
To keep it basic, I like to do the regular stuff like travel, shop, hang with my family and friends. I'm the kind of person who always wants to save the world but I realize that is just wishful thinking. I work in the banking industry and have a passion around financial literacy. I believe everyone needs to know how to manage their money and the impact this can have in so many areas of our lives. Anyway, let me get off my soapbox for now. If you've read this far, thanks! And if your still interested drop me a line....

My Interests

Higher education (intelligence is definitely an attractive quality), hanging with my homegirls and telling jokes, music, getting dressed up and going out to have a good time, shopping (of course! I'm an accesories freak!), good food, sports (i.e. Carolina Panthers, ATL Falcons), traveling (anywhere and everywhere there's something to do), sleeping past 11:00am (is such a luxury...)

I'd like to meet:

anyone who is not a crazy stalker...but if they are just plain crazy that's okay...

Music:

I am complete R & B freak. I love going to concerts and I waste tons of money on cds. I used to listen to rap but I just had to let that go, but I still love Jay Z. Here are some of my all time favorites: John Legend, Destiny's Child, Alicia Keys, Jay-Z, India Arie, Charlie Wilson, Jamie Foxx, Vivian Greene, 112, Mary J. Blige, Jaheim, Usher, Jill Scott, Luther Vandross, Mario, Avante, Faith, Sade, Anthony Hamilton. I could keep going but you get the idea.

Movies:

Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Madea's Family Reunion, (What can I say? Tyler Perry is a Genius!) Hitch (Yes I still believe in happily every after), Bad Boys I & II, Shrek, Finding Nemo, Drumline, & Ray (Jamie Foxx is the man!).

Books:

The Bible (even though I need to read it alot more than I do!), Girl, Make your Money Grow (I'm into building wealth, what can I say? I work at a bank!) Until Today! by Iyanla Vanzant (a great read when you need to be uplifted), Any book by Omar Tyree, and He's Just Not that Into You (Very entertaining and Very True!) I know this says books but....I love Black Enterprise Magazine, Essence (a must--go to the Essence Music Festival), Glamour, and Self (gotta try and stay in shape!).

Heroes:

Anyone who is not afraid to do what's right, even when it’s not popular. Also anyone who tries to set a positive example with their life for others to follow. I think the younger generation definitely lacks quality role models and it's up to us individually to change that. No one said it was gonna be easy....

My Blog

I have to pass this on...

Sometimes you just might be down and out about a certain situation. I always read this during those times and it always makes me feel better. It is amazing how words can be so powerful and can motivat...
