FIVE FOOT THICK

About Me

Evolution cannot be stopped. And from their innitial conception in late 1997, the Spokane, WA. based Five Foot Thick has been on a steady path of Evolution-helping to redifine the scope, power, and influence of tyrannicaly heavy music in the Pacific Northwest. Formed from the fragments of several influential Spokane acts, few other Nothwest groups have acheived the independent success of the band. Raised on a steady diet of classic 80's thrash metal and hip- hop, the earliest incantations of FFT are a powerfully dark fuse of hip hop and Metal. with in monthe of their formation, the band quickly ascended to the top ranks of the Spokane music scene. After several changes to the rythm section, however, the band was forced to regroup. But strangely, any and all changes to the FFT formula have only seemed to help the group coalesce in to something previously unrealized; much stronger, diverse, textured-and most notably-hellishly THICK, and meaty. In 2000 the band would release their debut album Circles, it would not only help catapult the band in to the top echelon of the Northwest's acts, but it would later go on to become one of the most successful independent releases in Spokane history. A monsterous blend of Hip- Hop meets Metal sorcery; Circles would go on to sell nearly 3000 copies. And the fall out of Circles was obvious: FFT was officially a staple of the Northwest metal scene. Substantial regional radio play, the Vans Warped Tour, a spot on the Jagermusic lineup, bills along the likes of Coal Chamber, HED(pe), Orange 9mm, and Suicidal Tendencies followed- not to mention their inclusion in more action-sports videos then you can shake your middle-finger at. Word of the bands live assult spread quickly. And asside form helping establised acts sell out shows throughout the region, FFT were also doing something else very few other acts in the region were: selling out their own large venue shows. Eventually FFT would sell out shows at Spokanes Metropolitan Theatre(Below)

a beautiful 750+ person venue that local bands rarely played, let alone sold out. At this point Northwest showgoers werent hoping to be consumed by a throbbing horde of hundreds of crazed Metal fans at every FFT encounter. They were anxiously expecting it at evry single FFT live show.

In may of 2003, the band would end it's run as perhaps the most successful independent band in the Northwest, signing with Eclipse records and becoming the obvious local opener for the likes of P.O.D., Drowning Pool, Ill Nino, 36 Crazy Fists, Chimaira, Slayer and Hatebreed and also sharing the stage with Godsmack to a sold out Spokane Arena crowd, to be noted as the first local act to acomplish the feat of playing to a sold out crowd at the Arena Fall of 2003 saw the long awaited follow up to Circles with the bands first Nationaly distributed release on Eclipse Records

Blood Puddle released on Nov 7th 2003. A release that colorfully illustrates the bands natural evolution from hip-hop inspired Metal to a chainsaw-buzz of new school, hard-core influenced Metal, with old school roots, which has sold upwards of 3000 copies to date. Having overcome some major obstacles, like a rehearsal space fire in Sep. 2004

that totaly devestated the band and their equipment, a major set back that the band quickly bounced back from with no regrets, and strong spirits. FFT looks to the future of the band, With exstensive touring in support of Blood Puddle now under their belts, and the gain of Managerial support from Novi Entertainment equiptment endorsements from

now firmly in place, and with the release of the bands first Full Length home video/DVD soon to come. FFT found their selves emerged in their creativity and entered Lee Stoker studios, in their home town of Spokane, Wa. to record their 3rd full length album. With an arsenal of new material, which fans have heard the band perform a handfull of, at past shows and on past tours and some new surprises as well. FFT hit the recording studio hard for a solid 3 months, to record what the band proclaims is their most honest, inspired, and heavy record to date! The bands 3rd full length release, a 14 track assult on the sences, titled... "This Cold Life" will be Hitting shelvs on Sep. 9th and promises to sooth the hunger FFT fans have been feeling, awiting the release of the bands 3rd album. The band has set a C.D. release show date for September 9th @ the Big easy in Spokane, WA. Which will be followed by some exstensive touring throughout the northwest in Sep. and Oct. 05, in support of their 3rd album "This Cold Life"... For FFT, evolution appears not to be a theory, but a destiny filled with many new adventures, great changes, and also continued growth and success. In the Eclipse Era of FFT success has been just as prominent, as it was for them as an independent act. Only the scope of the success yet to come remains a question....
