Rapper Big Pooh of North Carolina duo Little Brother, has paired up with Grammy-nominated producer Young RJ to create a new studio album due out in June of 2008, the producer’s manager DJ Scrap Dirty told AllHipHop.com.The two artists, from vastly different musical backgrounds, are working to combine their passion for Hip-Hop and all things musical, to create an album that will change the current landscape of music.Young RJ will take the lead on the project’s direction, Pooh says, while he is focused on the project’s lyricism."You can find a lot of beat makers, but they don’t actually know how to make a song out of the beat," Big Pooh told AllHipHop.com. "That’s what separates RJ from a lot of beat makers out there.""We’re going to make good music," added Young RJ. "Instead of just trying to go in and focusing on a single, we’re just trying to make good music."The son of 80’s Funk/Soul artist and Barak Records founder R.J. Rice, Young RJ’s past production credits include Slum Village’s last three studio albums, Trinity, Detroit Deli, and Slum Village.Young RJ also boast production credit on Lloyd Bank’s last album Rotten Apple and is responsible for Young Buck’s current single, "Push ‘Em Back."The producer is also nominated for a 2008 Academy Award for Best Urban/Alternative Performance for the song "That’s The Way of The World," singer Dwele’s contribution to the compilation album Interpretations: Celebrating The Music of Earth, Wind & Fire."This album has a lot of heart and soul and will change the way cats pick and choose what they really want to hear," Scrap Dirty said.
