About Me

Check out H2M.biz

Boy grows up. Boy goes to college. Boy marries his high school sweetheart.
Boy makes music, and friends, and a new baby boy.
The end.
For all my old-school peeps, here's a little Pac-Man for you to rock while you're listening to the jukebox. Dig.
Crank up my jukebox and check back often, it'll change from time to time:
MUSHMOUTH --
1. ORBIT
2. WHY:
Dave Anania (Greazy Meal, Blue Man Group) sitting in on drums, and Andra Suchy (Rhythm Jones, Hookers and Blow) on backups.
3. DEDICATION:
Andra Suchy on the backups at the end. Her voice is dreamy.
4. EVEN THOUGH IT'S WRONG
Mushmouth was my band in Minneapolis. Depending on the track, I sang, sometimes played some guitar, some bass, and all drums. I also wrote those songs, so if they suck, I'm the one to blame. It was our attempt at finding out what it would sound like if early 80s rock were created today with influences like the Black Crowes adding their salt and pepper to the dish.
GREAZY MEAL --
1. AIN'T NO FUN - LIVE AT THE CABOOZE:
Greazy Meal is the best live band that ever walked the planet and for 4 years I watched them play every Sunday in front of a thousand people a night. Every Sunday. A lot like church. Here's a little taste of why the Greazy Experience wrecked me for every live performance I ever saw after them. Turn this one WAY up...
MOOKSUKI --
1. NEW YORK, NY:
This is me and my friend Hue (singing). Hue is one of the most gifted musical minds I've ever met and he doesn't even know it. We sat down in front of the computer, I grabbed a guitar, handed Hue a mic, and we created this from nothing in about 30 minutes. It was originally called "All I Need," until that dag nabbit DJ took control of the hook.
Hue never like the DJ scratching part. We never got around to taking it out, so it has remained since.
SPYMOB --
1. GIVE US A CHANCE TO CALL:
My best friend is the guitar player in this band, and this one goes WAY back, long before major label deals and getting snatched up to join N.E.R.D. This album is incredibly obscure, and in my opinion their best work. Brents guitar parts on this album broke ground in a way I've never heard before and 80% of the songs on this album would have been right at home on any Beatles album. A Minneapolis treasure. Check it out.
POUNTERKUNTAL (pronounced "pounter-koontul") --
1. NARDIS:
A sweet treat indeed. This is the guys from Greazy Meal (Tommy Barbarella, Jim Anton, Brian Gallagher, and Dave Anania) doing old-school jazz (a Miles Davis Quintet slammer called "Nardis, this one) at The Dakota, a classic jazz club in the Cities. These shows were mind-blowing. A special guest showed up to sit in on this track: guest drummer Bernard Purdie (see also Steely Dan's "Aja" album.) This is an incredible track that until now has only been heard by the people who were there and a handful of people in that circle. Support local music. Find out who these guys play with, and go see them. It'll change you.

1. THE PUSHERMAN:
This is sloppy like a wine buzz, and was only tracked for posterity not sonic greatness, but it was A) one of the first "improv jam" sessions I'd ever had with other players when I finally added drums to my toolkit back in '97-ish. It's raw, but it has heart. This "song" was a totally off-the-cuff improv, one time through, nothing planned, and it was also the very first notes we ever played together in one room, live. Caught on tape, warts and all. God I SUCKED as a drummer back then, but Hue Mooksuki on vocals really adds some killer vocal lines, especially near the end of the song. Al Bergstrom is on bass. He's a genius. Jayson Johnson giving, in my opinion, one of the best guitar solos he's ever recorded. And a guy named Erik ..s, a non-keyboardest essentially, just joining in and messing around. It's all fun. And if you're drunk, it's really not that bad. :)

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Joseph Campbell (too late). Tommy Bolin (too late). Jimi Hendrix (too late). Sam Kinison (too late). John Lennon (too late).
Paul McCartney is still alive. He's the only person I want to meet.
