29 years old, Born and raised on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.Where there are many places to outdoor Adventure.My background picture is one of the places I discovered clays for my sculptures,I also love visiting the Barrier Islands where I find alot of inspiration to do my art.
1998 I started working on diffrent styles of art like mosiacs,sculpting pottery and funitures. Ive never had anyone teach me or worked with a mentor. I am self-taught, learning through trial and error.
Ancestor's from my closest faimly members Such as my Great Grandpaw who made fiddles for himself ,and for people that played music on the Gulf Coast.He was a craftsman frenchmen who built french houses,and boats.
My Mother who was very creative and was very talented.She was awesome with her hands,and loved Making beautiful costumes & dresses for the Kings & Queens ,of Biloxi Mardi Gras.
Fascinated with my history,guided me toward an awareness of the even earlier times. Much of the form and designs I use is stongly influenced by the shape and feel of the artifacts left to us by the first native american indians All of my pieces are shaped entirely by hand without the aid of the potter's wheel,and fired in an open pit fire I dig underground myself.This can be anywhere. I choose this technique because I feel that it best conveys primitive attributes that I want to portray in my work This has allowed me to learn more about my own native history.everything I do is original. I will often use pictures of people and try to pick up a charcter in my sculpting. It seems to come natural when I start a new project I try to create a unique personality for each one of my peices. I believe its my love for my native american ancestors, and for my own experience creating new things.
The Ancient belief is that the world was composed of four basic elements: air, fire, water, and earth -- the elements necessary to make pottery. I try only to use natural materials for all my work. I harvest wood for carving & funiture & river clay's for pottery. I am grateful for all the gifts the creator has giveing me and It is my belief that the knowledge we acquire is to be given away.
