The Jezebel Spirit had its beginnings in 2003 when Chris met Pat and Phil in a guitar shop while searching for a new bass player and drummer for his old band, Nobody Special. That band eventually broke up with the exit of the lead singer, but Pat and Phil continued to jam with Chris and a new band was formed with a new lead singer and continued for about 7-9 months until that singer exited as well. The trio came back together and Chris brought in Jon Scheid after meeting him at a program he was attending and they hit it off. Jon soon became part of the band and began to add his patented brand of off kilter and angular take on guitar playing to the group and update the older songs that were written in the previous band. As soon as the band was relatively settled, musically, Willie was brought in to take over the vocal responsibilities and the band continued to evolve and grow. Willie soon exited the band and Kyle was brought into the band and the name, The Jezebel Spirit, was finally put onto the band that had been growing and evolving through singers and members for about two years.
Kyle was brought in and became the group's singer for much of 2006 and during the summer of 2006, the band went into the studio for the first time to try to ambitiously record an entire album of their material to finally present to the masses. It would be a 12 track LP dubbed "I am the Gift Horse" will all the band's best material, but unfortunately due to delays and misdealings, that album died on the table and much of the audio from those sessions were lost in the shuffle and scuffle of trying to finish the album in a new studio with a new producer. The Jezebel Spirit continued to thrive, but were very disheartened over the loss of all of their hard work that went into their album and at the beginning of November 2006, The Jezebel Spirit parted ways with their singer Kyle. And that is where they currently stand at an uncertain future continuing on as they began to play live, instrumentally, and unclear on what the future holds for this group.
The next chapter of the Jezebel Spirit has arrived and that is the release of their first Album/EP in their career as a band. After trying in vein to put out some sort of recording and writing over 3 hours of material in their year and a half together and progressing immensely, the Jezebel Spirit will be releasing the work entitled: "Turtles all the Way Down" by the end of August 2007. Working on finalizing the artwork for the album and sending it for duplication, the Jezebel Spirit plans to promote the album through a rash of shows throughout Portland and the surrounding areas as well as a CD release show at an undisclosed club. Be on the lookout for digital downloads of album tracks as well as CDs with artwork produced by Chris. The Four Album tracks are currently on their MySpace and only encompass about half the material the Jezebel Spirit has been performing live and only a fraction of the material they plan on producing. They are no longer at a crossroads, they are moving ahead full force.
