The Sheriff (Old Profile)

NO, I'm not really a sheriff, but don't make me lay down the law!

About Me

HI, I'M RACHEL, AND I'M A LIVE MUSIC ADDICT.
Me rocking out to Marc Broussard and the boys on Jimmy Kimmel!
"Music is the last true voice of the human spirit. It can go beyond language, beyond age and beyond color...straight to the heart and mind of all people." -- Ben Harper
Save Me...I'm A Fool For Distraction
Grew up in a small (3000 people) town in the central valley of California and got out of there as soon as I could. Went to college at Fresno State - partied hard and got a degree in Journalism. As soon as I graduated I was out of there too - from August 1995-August 2005 I lived and worked in San Francisco, but moved back closer to where I grew up to be near family and enjoy everyday things like owning a car and having a washer & dryer which I went without for 10 years! :) For what I like to call my "real" job, I worked at a computer software company as a Senior Planning Analyst until they laid me off after working there almost 12 years. As of February 2007, I am officially looking for a new job - check out my LinkedIn profile (button above) to see my resume and qualifications. I also work for a few musicians/bands on the side, doing music marketing and promotions. And, of course, continue to travel anywhere that I can, any time that I can, mostly to see live music and visit friends. You can view my concert schedule (past and future) on this page, or read about all of my daily adventures in my LiveJournal . I'm always in search of my next "fix" to feed my music addiction.
To sum myself up in a very random way, I've provided a list above in my blog containing "100 Things About Me" that might help you get to know me a little better.
I love life a little bit more with each year and can't wait to see what the future holds. I don't wait for things to happen, I make them happen. I'm a no-nonsense, no-time-for-drama kind of girl. If you bring that into my life, I will shut you out. What you see is what you get with me and I respect that in other people. I am so taken aback and thankful for all of the love and support I receive from the amazing people in my life - it rocks my world.

Southern Louisiana is near and dear to my heart - please do whatever you can to help them get back on their feet - it's going to take help for a long time, we can't forget about them!

Movies:

Not much time for movies anymore, it seems. Faves from my youth are The Outsiders, On Golden Pond, Grease and all those Brat Pack movies like The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, St. Elmo's Fire, etc.

Television:

I admit it, I am a reality TV junkie. I miss Sex and the City, Arrested Development and Six Feet Under (RIP). Ali G rocks my world. I'm a Sopranos addict.

Thanks to one of the greatest inventions in the world - the DVR - I can tape as many shows as I want and just watch them at my leisure.

Here is what you might find on my DVR at any given time: Amazing Race, America's Next Top Model, American Idol, Apprentice, Bachelor, Bachelorette, Big Love, Biggest Loser, Celebrity Poker Showdown, CSI, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Da Ali G Show, Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Ellen DeGeneres, Entourage, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, How I Met Your Mother, Intervention, Late Show with David Letterman, Project Runway, Real World, Real World/Road Rules Challenge, Road Rules, Sarah Silverman Program, Saturday Night Live, So You Think You Can Dance, Sopranos, South Park, Survivor, The Office

Books:

Old: I've read Catcher In The Rye more than any other book (about 10 times) - love that story. To Kill A Mockingbird is another fave. New: David Sedaris is a genius - any one of his books will do.

Heroes:

I don't really have any heroes (no one has saved my life yet), but many people inspire me daily with their ambition, encouragement, dedication, love, etc.
