Mind Kill

Originally formed in March of 2004 as an instrumental metal quartet playing covers of Slayer, Metallica, Godsmack and Cradle of Filth, Mindkill quickly progressed into an a original band playing the smaller venues of Montreal. The founding members: Robert Goyens and Drew Vergil playing both lead and rhythm guitars, Marie-Catherine (MC) Sakalauski playing Bass, and Olivier Roussy on drums. Preferring to start out as an instru‘metal’ band, they worked on putting together songs for about a year before being joined by singer Pierre-Luc (PL) Nantel to complete the line-up.A love of different types of metal and generally heavy music was what brought the five band-mates together. The fusion of five songwriters (and yes… even the drummer) made for exceptionally diverse and dynamic songs with influences ranging from the darkest of speed/death metal to jazz and classical music. With Drew being the former member of The Vagrant Lot – a grunge/rock group, and PL-former member of Exit Sphere, a power metal ensemble, a unique point of view certainly emerged from several varying musical backgrounds. Their goal was to create songs that sounded nothing like the songs before them, and most importantly nothing like anyone else’s music. With virtually no effects required they can tear apart any venue with brutally fast riffs and blow minds with technical, abnormal time signatures. On a lighter note…with songs ranging from four minutes to ten, there’s a lot of place for melody and improvisation from all members. They have managed to captivate fans from any kind of show they play and take pride in inspiring as many “mosh pits” as possible along the way. Mind Kill Progressive Metal
