About Me

KORTIS RECORDS
Kortis Records is an independent record label that specializes in HipHop, Pop, Latin and Modern formats. We focus on artist relations and development, while minimizing overhead costs and utilizing cost-effective productions and targeted marketing techniques. Kortis Records invests the freed cash flow in artist development and high end production. As a newly founded record label it is on its best way to establish itself as a one-stop independent music label with a multitude of capabilities from complete music production, video production, manufacturing, marketing and merchandising nationally and internationally. The label was founded 2006, in Los Angeles by Alena Kortis and her brother Jan Kortis. From the beginning it had great success identifying talented new artists and has effectively nurtured these at their earliest stages, serving them with professional service and equipment. Co-CEO and brother, Jan Kortis (JK) is the other half of the Kortis Records label. Mr. Kortis is not only Co-CEO, but also founder of the production and talent development company, JK Records. Highly involved as a producer and production coordinator, Jan is responsible for all happenings at Kortis Records. Kortis Records with its connections on European music markets (United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic...), is able to develop great marketing strategies and cost efficiently target the right audience nationally and internationally. (Slogan "Better being a big fish in a small pond then a small fish in a big pond") It seems like everywhere you look someone claims they got a record label, just because they got 2-3 demo songs from their home studio and a home made music video... We recognize the changes in the music industry and are ready to ensure our fan and customer base will always receive nothing but the very best in all we do. It's a high priority for Kortis Records to bring its artists to the next level.
VIDEO PRODUCTION
Producing powerful, original video content is our additional service where we offer new artist/bands to step above the independent musician's crowd. We are extremely cost efficient in doing high-quality work for those who seek it. Most importantly, we want our work to be effective promoting your business, your band, your idea, or your message. We can provide you with 35mm, Super-16mm, 16mm, and HD formats to match your desired budget for your next music video or commerical. Production locations are New York, Los Angeles, Hawaii and several European countries. Working with a top director like Alan Calzatti who during the '90s completed over 250 music videos for the domestic and international markets, working with Atlantic, Sony, AandM, Jive, Hollywood Records, WEA International, and BMG/RCA, to name a few. In 1996 Alan received the MTV Viewer's Choice?Video of the Year Award for the Backstreet Boys' "Get Down", which launched the band into first place in Europe and changed the way "Boy Bands" were marketed. A year later, Alan repeated that success with N' Sync's "I Want You Back", climbing to a number-one position on the European charts. Check out Alan's Reel! (click HERE )

Alena Kortis' first single "Wanna Show You", infused with hip-hop and latin rhythm makes you want to dance. The song is about a young woman and man who catch each other in passing and fantasize on how they can show each other how to love. This fascination is the impetus to a song that is both romantic and sensual at the same time. Born January 3, 1984 in the Slovak Republic, Alena experienced growing up close to the nature in a little village surrounded by beautiful mountains of Slovakia. Moving to Germany at the age of five she was first introduced to music while attending grammar school where she began to study the piano and keyboard. Following this experience Alena began to practice her vocals independently. After attending "The Gymnazium High School" in Bingen - Germany, Alena returned to Slovakia with her family in 1996 to continue her journey in the musical world. Before this could begin she had to learn the Slovak language, being her primary language was German. Learning the Slovak language came easy to her. While in Slovakia Alena was given the opportunity to record at a professional music studio where she recorded two songs by " Celine Dion" ( Think Twice and Power of Love ), recalling this experience as "motivation" to pursue her career. 1998 brought to Alena the chance to learn playing the Soprano Saxophone. Her brother being her tutor gave her the final guidance and in just six months preparing her for the talent auditions at the private Conservatory of "Dezider Kardos". After mastering the Saxophone in no time at all, Alena was accepted into the Conservatory at the age of fourteen. There is where she developed and mastered many of her musical talents. Alena with her brother formed the group "Duo Kortis" in 1998 recording her first instrumental album. Although this album was never released, Alena was filled with more passion than ever to pursue her dream of releasing her own album. Thus bringing "Duo Kortis" the opportunity in 1999 to be part of production for a few chosen songs on a debut album titled "Usmev V Zialy" by singer songwriter Jan Nalez. While contributing to this album Alena and her brother displayed their musical talents thru their unique Saxophone solos. Continuing her music education at the Conservatory of Dezidera Kardosa in Toplocany, Alena practiced the saxophone under the guidance of professors Mgr. Jaroslav Cervenka (founder, member of several jazz bands in Slovakia) and Gunter Koci (professional saxophone performer, multi-instrumentalist and lead saxophonist of the famous Big Band-Gustav Brom Big Band in the Czech Republic). Graduating with a professional degree majoring in Saxophone Performance, Music History and Music Theory, Alena focused her style of saxophone on the genre of smooth jazz being influenced by contemporary saxophone players such as Dave Koz, Kenny G., and Candy Dulfer. At this time Alena began traveling to the United States of America to visit her father, knowing the U.S.A. to have an enormous amount of opportunity to further her music career. In 2005, writing her own lyrics, Alena recorded her first single "Wanna Show You" a latin hip-hop production recorded and produced at JK Records Studio. Alena with her brother Jan dedicated a website to all Eastern European musicians from Czech and Slovakia named "MyMusic.sk" www.mymusic.sk which promotes and supports bands and artists from any genre or country. At the beginning of 2006 Alena and her brother founded an independent label named "Kortis Records" along with the production company "JK Records" to pursue their success in the music business. Also having started their own record label "Kortis Records", Alena was the first musician to be signed, followed by English-Latin rapper "Ricky Boy" (Ricardo Carignan) and the group "Da Limelite Boiz". 2006 also brought Alena the opportunity to film her first music video (on FILM: 35mm HQ) for "Wanna Show You" on location in Hollywood / Highland. The video "Wanna Show You" single CD release production was funded by their own label "Kortis Records" and directed John Kortis and filmed by Jake Akuna. Alena is currently preparing for her ENHANCED CD SINGLE - WANNA SHOW YOU to be released by the end of this summer. While working with several new music artists, including her signed rapper and song writer "Ricky Boy", who is featured on her first single "Wanna Show You", and artist / rapper "Reddoe" from the group "Da Limelite Boiz" also being featured on her remixed version of her first single "Wanna Show You", Alena is constantly developing her style and experience in today's music world. With music continuing to play an important role in her life, Alena has dedicated her heart and soul to creating music for the world to enjoy.

LISA D AMATO

LISA D’AMATO PROVES SHE’S NOT JUST ANOTHER “TOP MODEL”
D’Amato - known by members on her MySpace fan group as ‘That Crazy Lisa’ - definitely made her mark in Cycle 5 of the hit reality series America’s Next Top Model. While that season’s winner was praised for her prim and proper clichÈ Cover Girl behavior, “Lisa D” was criticized for her Who Gives An F attitude from the get-go. For starters, home girl is not the delicate type who sips one glass of wine with dinner; she got straight-up blotto and owned it, a fact that provoked outrage not only among many of her housemates but also millions of viewers. What? A model under the influence - enjoying herself? Just who does she think she is?Who she thinks she is…is exactly that. A girl having fun who, in her own jovial words, “[does] what she wants. Get some!”After receiving the proverbial “stiletto” off the show once she’d make it all the way to the finals, D’Amato has continued to make a name for herself as a rule-breaker and a risk-taker. Fashion is a sign of the times, and Kate Moss’s recent bust for cocaine consumption - which, incidentally, improved her net worth as a model millions of dollars and secured her the coveted spot as the “1 Working Icon” among the listings on Models.com - has proven more than ever that Bad Girls Are Back. After a decade of nameless, faceless walking sticks dominating the catwalks, now we’ve got a return of that delicious cattiness that’s been missing. While many of the cast-aways have returned to their home - towns and are slinging beers and fries at Hooters, D’Amato signed with the prestigious L.A. Models, through which she’s had editiorial spreads in Swindle, Lemonade, and Check It Out magazines, a cover shoot for Permission magazine, numerous ‘opening girl’ slots for shows during L.A. Fashion Week (including Jared Gold’s Black Chandelier, and clothing lines White Bioy and 2B Free. But it was a guest spot on a track by the rapper Bias, who brought her in to take the mic and spit the truth, that released a whole new beast: D’Amato as an M.C.Continuing to prove she’s “not just another personality-free clothes-hanger on the catwalk,” D’Amato teamed up with producer Johnny Kortis of Kortis Records and producer Hue Dee to produce her first single, a club track entitled “Ace Of Spades” that’s already making its rounds in Hollywood hot-spots like Le Deux and Element. A delicious taste of irony, the latter - as she was fired from her gig as a cocktail waitress in the past because she grabbed the mic from a DJ during her work shift and “just started freestylin’. I jumped up on the stage and just let go, man! Slingin’ Cristal just ain’t enough for me…I got flava!”Pop “Ace of Spades” into your player and get a taste of that “flava” yourself. When this little spit-fire proclaims “Did you know that I can dance and sing / And spit some rhymes,” it’s like a dare for you to doubt her. Prick up your ears; put up your dukes, and cash in on this “Ace of Spades” while you can…
