About Me

I'm a Christian guy living and working in the city of Seattle pursuing a degree in English. For music I like jazz, classic rock, alternative, but always expanding my tastes. I like movies, old ones mostly, but I see a lot of new ones too. I read a lot. I like my family and friends. I spend time with them as much as my life allows. Most of all, my life is about striving to be more like Jesus and figuring out what that means exactly. Anything else is futile.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Hemingway, Graham Greene, Jack Nicholson, Grace Kelly and the guy who invented Cheezits.

My Blog

my last dream

I had a dream the other night where I was in New York City on a sunny day in a park.  Well, I can't be completely  sure that it was New York because I've only been there twice and never been...

A Precedent

I'm not one for "updates" on my life with large amounts of generalized information.  If my blogs are going to be about my life I'd like them to be about something specific.  It's much more i...

Resolution

I know it's a day early but I've decided to give up ice cream for a year.  I feel it's time for some small changes, so if you see me eating ice cream at all during this next year the least y...

Another One (maybe the last) Bites the Dust

One way or another a person finds their way into heartbreak, like a river inevitably flowing into the ocean.  One minute you're one thing and then the next you look the same, but everything'...

Ferry Watching

It doesn't happen very often, but on a rare occasion a sermon that may have sent others to vertiginous heights causes me to realize my inherent depravity and sends me home in a funk.  Mark just ...

The Perpetual Mr. Potter

"If I had a car I'd drive straight into the window of a bank I owe money to." - Ryan Adams All the lights seemed to turn yellow as I sped through West Seattle hoping to find an open bank. I just...

Elastically Speaking

At one time or another we all work jobs that suck.  Kentucky Fried Chicken, McDonalds and door-to-door vacuum sales are crappy jobs that I've held.  But they were al...

Nobody ever lied about being lonely...or broke.

On Saturday I hosted a small yard sale on the patio in the back.  I must have made $100 in the first hour.  Who knew yard sales could be so cathartic?  It's like someone was...

Whos the Suit?

Over the last two or three  months, I can't remember exactly, I have been desperately looking for work or just little ways to make money.  It all started when I quit my job at a metal fabric...

Summer?

I can imagine what they're all thinking, but I don't really know.  This weather has got to be driving them nuts, all those kids on summer break.  It's about 65 right now and pouring down rai...
