2008 was the year that saw Dead Riot embark on their first national tour, resulting in critical acclaim in Drum Magazine, and a 4/5 review on online magazine, Bombshell.
In less than three years from formation, Dead Riot have shared the stage with The Basics, Rob Hirst & the Ghostwriters, Unpaid Debt, Bomba and The Skins (Blue King Brown,) Casino Rumblers, Stepping Razor, Grassroots Street Orchestra, Wiseacre, The Fumes and many more. After one live show, renound media producer “Av Mike†was inspired to direct the video clip for the single “Can’t Stop the Killing.â€
In 2009, the band was commissioned by Japanese television company C.P. International to perform their single for renowned program Sekai Gyoten (The World’s Amazing News). In addition, May of this year saw Dead Riot’s EP launch on the Brisbane River become a sell out show.
Dead Riot Lives and breathes what they sing. They have strong, unbiased, environmental, social and political views, a passion highlighted since the band’s formation in 2005. The members all love music and DIY ethics and try to do their upmost to ensure everything they create is produced in an ethical manner. All Dead Riot songs have a lyrical message that encourages free thought about music, regardless of genre.
The Dead Riot show is about having a great time, having a dance around with someone you don’t know and forgetting about all the things that get you down. Isn’t that what live music is all about? The sound will melt your face off, get you dancing and break your fucking heart within 20 minutes.
