Other Brother Darryl

BO DIDDLEY IS THE ORIGINATOR. R.I.P MY BROTHER.

About Me

When Other Brother Darryl was in Grade 7, he found a magical copy of 'A Tribe Called Quest's The Low End Theory', nestled in the back seat of a big yellow school bus. That afternoon, (in his cassette walkman), 'Brother Darryl was taught to be down with the sound of true hip-hop. Q-Tip told him so. As did Phife Dawg. And Also, Busta Rhymes. Not to mention, Diamond D... Later, 'Brother Darryl (as he was then unknown), borrowed his grandmother's turntable, went to 'Play De Record', and bought 'Still Caught Up', by 'Saukrates'. It was then, that he started scratching... Once he got to high school, his monikers changed. From Daz, to King Druid. King Druid to Dj Jestah. 'Brother Darryl kept scratching. And soon, started spinning. He spun and spun and rhymed and tagged for some 9 years, before hip-hop lost it's heart and died... In magazines, televison and on the radio, nothing could be heard of his favourite rap sounds. Some hip-hoppers were no longer as good. Some passed away, others simply 'disbanded' and moved on. What remained wasn't so pleasant. Seeing the once mighty hip-hop behaving so shallow and souless hurt 'Brother Darryl... With a heavy heart, he moved on. Keeping his many records stored on his iPod, 'Brother Darryl travelled the world. From Canada, to England. England to America. America to Australia. Australia to New Zealand. 'Brother Darryl surfed the oceans waves and saw many sights. But along his Alchemist-like journey, what did he discover? Hip-Hop Was Not Dead! Far from it! He saw true B-Boys, along Australia's Gold Coast, with beats and rhymes not unlike those of Premier and the Guru! Teenagers in Auckland, New Zealand, were getting down to Plug Tunin' and knew all the words to Bonita Applebaum!! And beautiful Norwegian females were chilling out to The Beatnuts and The Roots. "If hip-hop's not dead," he thought. "Then I need to get back to the T-Dot...Back to my Vestax and my Technics' & my MPC...I need to finish off this record that's been floating around in my head all these years!"And so it is with that, Other Brother Darryl is now, nearly, finally, almost-fully-complete with his debut album; "Old School Road". (Named after the actual street he grew up on. In real life. No joke).Stay Tuned to this page as selected tracks from the album are posted for your listening enjoyment.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
