Greetings! I've been playing the saxophones since I was 12 years old. I grew up in a musical home and learned to play piano and guitar at an early age. I love and live for music. I've been blessed with the opportunity here in Madison, Wisconsin to really pursue my musical adventures (see my blog at groovology.com) .
I play saxophones for Clyde Stubblefield's band . In addition to our booked gigs, we play every Monday night at the King Club in Madison (check it out--it's one of the best Monday night music experiences you'll find!). Playing with the Original Funky Drummer is a dream I could never imagine, but was certainly called to in my life's journey. Maceo Parker and the JB Horns were a huge influence on me growing up. Playing with James Brown's original drummer is a dream come true and something I give thanks for each time we play!<>
But Madison has other great artist surprises! It turns out I live down the street from Roscoe Mitchell, a seminal avant-garde saxophone artist and founding member of the Art Ensemble of Chicago . Roscoe is an awesome guy! I study with him when I can and I play tenor sax in an informal sax quartet that meets each weekend. As a friend called it, it's saxophone boot camp!So that's a little bit about me. I've lived in Madison now for almost five years and it really is a great place to be. It's a town that offers a rare combination of art, intellect, partying, cultural awareness, health and recreation. It's just right for me! Thanks for checking in...
