Candis Wright is a singer and songwriter who tells a melodic story beyond her youthful years. The Georgia born, Bay Area California-bred vocal musician can charm with the sweet melodies of a ballad or rock the house with the rhythmic hip-hop urban street sounds. Candis writes the stories that make young hearts sing in recognition of one who feels the pulse of the urban scene. Her voice is demonstrative of a youthful vibe demonstrating life's joys, tears and pain.
With vocal training from Bay Area favorite and powerhouse, Arvis Strikling-Jones, Candis recently had her professional debut at the historic Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, the only Black professional theatre in San Francisco's famed Theatre District. As a member of the Chorus in Langston Hughes Black Nativity, she garnered a solo role that stopped the house and was an audience favorite. Strickling says of Candis, She has a strong fresh sound capable of climbing the charts and staying at the top for years to come. Candis' vocal nuance and ingenuity has been heard as back up on the tracks of several up and coming hip hop groups. The work ethic and faithfulness Candis displays in her day-job are brought with her into the studio. Known affectionately, as First Take in the studio, producers welcome Candis' professionalism.
It's now time for this vibrant artist to breakout where she belongs, leading moody melodies and writing moving songs that delight the soul. Candis, who has always delighted in the gift of song, joined the choruses in the public schools she attended in Columbus, Georgia and Oakland and San Leandro, California. Loving music, she has always enjoyed choreography and dance. She's been called upon to choreograph and dance, another area of gifting. With a vision to be the best, she continues her voice lessons and will soon expand her quest for excellence to dance, acting and modeling. Listen and find out!
