About Me

I’m a 24-year old daughter of the Diaspora who stomps her feet to ancient drums and contemporary beats. While discovering the beauty and power of words I found myself addicted to music, poetry, reading and writing.
On the B-side the sounds of thoughts on paper or keyboard are replaced by the soothing rhythms of Parker, Monk and brushstrokes. When restless I paint. And I sing…only in the kitchen and mostly off key but at least my song is acknowledged.

Current location: The Netherlands, Europe.
Amsterdam has been my home for the past 9 years and, although some might say it’s impossible to enjoy the city without smoking, I really think me and my sobriety are enjoying our stay here to the fullest.

…parting is such sweet sorrow
Since I’m not the scrolling kind myself I’m keeping it short.
Support the artists you admire. Eat mangos. Read!

Be nobodys darling

She showed them a side of herself that went so far over their heads that 'crazy' seemed the only label suitable to be sewn on the pocket of the straightjacket they tried to force her in. As we waited ...

In loving memory of Sekou Sundiata (1948 - 2007)

On July 18th we lost a more than dear Brother in Sekou Sundiata. A Light, a Spirit, an Inspiration. The vessel of his wisdom and strength is no longer with us but his fire will be burning forever...

Misty water-colored memories of the way we were in 2006

While lemon juice usually does the trick, there's something about the last two weeks of the year that makes people want to spike up their drinks with a dash of reflection. Christmas ornaments seem to ...

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire

There's nothing like walking through the toy-section of a giant department store (in my case it was Harrods in London) to make you think twice about how you're going to raise your children. In the mid...

Driving miss Lazy: Good men and the women who scare them away

Bo's tired of men. After 4 years of miserable dates she's come to the conclusion that all the good men are taken, gay or not attracted to women like her. To her, single Kings are an extinct species an...

Fresh out of things to say

A few days ago I went to a party and I ran into one of the most specific definitions of charisma. There was a Brother who was more than fine, he was divine. The way he smiled, the way he sang along to...
