About Me
Through out the history of Hip-Hop, America’s cities have consistently sent forth new styles and talent that had previously gone unnoticed. Now Baltimore City MCs are poised to take their place, and Chief Justice is the pioneer that will usher them in.Born and raised in Baltimore, MD, Justice has studied the Hip-Hop movement since inception. Since his career began in 1991, he has observed the rise and fall of various members of the music industry. His observations have helped him to create a sure fire method for his own success. The Chief got his start as a member of The Architects, along with former partner, Knox (who has since written and produced for Alicia Keys, Will Smith, and Tweet). From 1993 to 1998, the group performed with established artists such as, KRS-1, Mobb Deep, Common, Tha Alkaholiks, and Brand Nubian. In 1999, the group divided leaving Justice no choice but to explore being a solo artist. Since relocating to Atlanta, GA in 1995, he began booking shows, and selling copies of The Architects independently released single, The Monument. The Chief had already developed a strong fan and support base in the Southeast and independently sold over 5,000 copies of the single. Justice’s hard work and determination were about take on national proportions. In April of 1999 he was the runner-up in a controversial final round of the world renowned and respected Blaze Battle. With a strong street buzz and legendary MC status now attached to his name, in 2000 Justice took an internship as an assistant engineer at Meta Music Studios in Atlanta. Here he was given the chance to work with & learn from Khalifani Moore, Jarvis Blackshear, and Sol Messiah. Three engineers and producers whose contributions on multi-platinum projects such as Outkast’s “ATLiensâ€; Goodie M.O.B.’s “Still Standing; the “Soul Food Soundtrackâ€; and TLC’s Creep; helped to pioneer the success of the south. Needless to say, the experience and education were priceless to The Chief. Two and a half years later, he left Atlanta with an in-depth understanding of engineering and producing, including song structure. He also left with an EP, Justice for All, 8 tracks that have never been released or heard. The Chief currently resides in Brooklyn, NY. Having developed a new style, blending his industry maturity, charismatic personality and superior lyricism, Justice recorded his first solo full-length LP, entitled Windows To My Sole. A cultivated introduction to his inventive prowess. While putting together his newest full-length project, One Of A Kind, Chief Justice is expanding his horizons.
Keeping busy working with Jeff Robinson, Manager of Alicia Keys & Lyfe Jennings. The Chief has been doing some ghost writing, and also offers consultation for recording sessions & artist development, writing etc.
