If you enjoy Texas music, you've come to the right place. My name is George Bancroft. I produce and host a weekly, one-hour radio program about Texas affiliated singer-songwriters and Texas affiliated bands. More specifically, I focus the show's content on people and acts from Texas that write their own material. I love George Staight, but he'll never be on the Texas Tunesmith radio show. It's been my experience that good singers are relatively easy to find. Good songwriters are not at all easy to find and are therefore, special. To prepare for the show, I read all I can about the act, interview the chief songwriter on the phone, and then use comments from the songwriter, myself, and the tunes from one of the acts CDs to put the show together. I've interviewed and done shows for James McMurtry, Randy Rogers, Guy Clark, Cross Canadian Ragweed and many, many others. I love it.
I am a singer-songwriter myself. I spent much of the '90s in coffee houses, bars, and road houses learning the craft and admiring the work of songwriters like Jimmy Lafave, Betty Elders, David Rodriguez, and Guy Forsyth. I found that, almost as much aas the music, I enjoyed the set-up for the song. I enjoyed hearing what I like to call "The Tales Behind the Tunes" straight from the person who wrote the song, so I'm in the process of building a life around what turns my screws. Everyone should be so fortunate.
I hope you'll join my little network and when you have some time, check out our website at www.texastunesmith.com.
Have a great Texas music day!
