It all began when I turned away from the bourgeois existence of my father, and came to Paris to live in a garret and become a penniless writer, to write about truth, freedom, beauty, and that which I believed in above all else, love. But as I sat down to write, I realised that if I wanted to write about love, I must first fall in love.
