That people are basically good; that honor, courage, and virtue mean everything;
that power and money, money and power mean nothing;
that good always triumphs over evil;
and I want you to remember this, that love... true love never dies.
You remember that, boy. You remember that. Doesn't matter if it's true or not.
You see, a man should believe in those things, because those are the things worth believing in.
You'll see one day when you move out it just sort of happens one day and it's gone.
You feel like you can never get it back.
It's like you feel homesick for a place that doesn't even exist.
Maybe it's like this rite of passage, you know.
You won't ever have this feeling again until you create a new idea of home for yourself, you know, for your kids, for the family you start, it's like a cycle or something.
I don't know, but I miss the idea of it, you know. Maybe that's all family really is.
A group of people that miss the same imaginary place.
I leave this as a declaration of intent, so no one will be confused.
"Si vis pacem, para bellum."
Well I give everything I got, try to give more than I take
For Heaven's sake I keep on smiling
no matter what comes my way
And I may be passin' out on Friday night
But come Sunday I'll be passing the collection plate
I couldn't sleep last night because I know that it's over between us.
I'm not bitter anymore, because I know that what we had was real.
And if in some distant place in the future we see each other in our new lives,
I'll smile at you with joy and remember how we spent the summer beneath the trees,
learning from each other and growing in love.
The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more,
that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds, and that's what you've given me.
That's what I hope to give to you forever.
I love you. I'll be seeing you.
