EVIDENCE: Written and performed by Kalisa Ewing and Ken JohnsonOver the years, Ewing has developed a style that peppers her country roots with an edgy mystique and offers honest lyrics that captivate the heart and mind. Singer/songwriter, Kalisa Ewing, was born and raised in Nashville, and has been honing her craft since the young age of 7 when she began writing poetry in her room at night when she got home from school. Ewing’s influences range from Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn, to Patty Griffin and Frank Sinatra. At the age of 10 she began taking guitar lessons and by the time she was 11, Ewing was performing in numerous talent shows and venues. At 13, she won the Loretta Lynn Talent Search and had the unique opportunity to open for the legendary Lynn. This opened the door for an invitation to play an ongoing Saturday gig at Tootsie's Orchid Lounge in Nashville, Tennessee which she played each weekend for 2 years. As songs seemed to begin pouring out of her over time, her observing mother started looking for songwriter open mic nights so Kalisa could become more familiar on a stage playing and singing her own songs. By the time Ewing turned 18, she had been writing and working on a production project with Sony/ATV songwriter Kelly Garrett, and Diamond Rio producer, Mike Clute. This project ended up landing Kalisa a demo deal with RCA Records in which Ewing’s songs “Weed,†“Lonely,†“Excuse Me,†and “Inside Out†were recorded. In addition to her co-writes with Garrett, she has more recently been writing with Leslie Satcher, Wyn Varbel, Lisa Carver, John Scott Sherrill and Marla Cannon among numerous others. Ewing signed a co-venture with RSP Music and Law Road Music in the fall of 2008, and is currently writing songs for her debut album in which the renowned Buddy Cannon, who is famously known for his work with Kenny Chesney, is producing.   This layout was handmade with love by the folks at My space or yours? using original artwork by Marah Johnson.
