Auf Dauer Himmel ist die Hölle

About Me

I'm a simple guy with a complex understanding of the human condition. Well, mine anyway.
Also, I like cheese, ending my sentences with prepositions, and my favorite prime number is 61781.
Here a few interesting links:

Here's a poem by Robert Frost (for all of you who quoted "The Road Less Traveled" in your high school senior page - yes, I'm making fun of you):Fire and Ice Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire I hold with those who favour fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice.

My Interests

* politics, music (good music - and if you don't know what good music is, you shouldn't be asking me), Art (all sorts), laughter, dance, film, reading, the outdoors - camping, hiking, running, biking, swimming, and rock climbing - and long walks, fine wine and dining, NPR and Harpers. I love slapstick humor, monty python, and literature. I like debate - no I love debate!

* Short term goal is to enter the Navy as an officer (hopefully a LT.) and my eventual goal is to go to NYU Law School, then work towards a doctorate in International relations or a doctorate of Jurisprudence in International Law - 10 year plan. It's time to concentrate my life and efforts.

Which John Cusack Are You?

I'd like to meet:

People with a postmodern agenda. Those with enough sense to only perch on the edge of insanity, but are foolish enough to stare down the void. A deconstructionist poet, a Post-structural philosopher, a Hegalian dog-walker, or any combination of the above.

More importantly, someone who "gets" me.

Sarah gets me... she's nifty.

Music:

Anything intelligent, well thought through and fun. Phillip Glass, Vivaldi, Dave Brubeck, Nina Simone, Irish, Classical Guitar, Fishbone, Oingo Boingo Acid Jazz, and a wide, ecclectic assortment of things that don't suck.

This week I'm particularly taken with Dresden Dolls ... they will be at Stubbs March 16th. This is a good thing.

Movies:

The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Starman, Raising Arizona, Final Descent, Most anything by David Lynch, Forbidden Zone, Lord of the Rings (of course), Man Bites Dog, 21 Grams, Real Women Have Curves, The Beast (the only good HBO film), Elephant (though I probably couldn't watch it again), and too many others to name...

Also, Half Baked makes me laugh so hard I hurt my spleen.

Television:

I'm an ashamed fan of sci-fi and cartoons... but no worries, I don't really talk about it. And C-span, the Daily show, CSI, Law & Order. That's about it.

Books:

I can reccomend, for if I listed all I've read that's great we'd be here all week...

Fiction: The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien

Poetry: What Work Is by Phillip Levine

Non-Fiction: Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser

Humor: Lies and the Lying Liars That Tell Them by Al Frankin

Art: Passion Lines - photos of dance

Heroes:

Richard Feynman; Ghandi; Yeathl; and that guy I think I am.
