About Me
Some artists are made.
For others it is simply there from birth, untouched upon, and it takes a life altering moment before their talents come to be.
For Travis Thornton, it took writing his very first poem in memory of his grandmother, who had passed when he was in his freshman year of high school, before Travis caught glimpse of a new, bittersweet love. From this point on, Travis began expressing himself musically in every way he possibly could.
Passionate about his calling, music is more than lyrics and chords to Travis. It gives you strength and hope, but mostly it inspires. Music is a feeling that elevates you to a whole new world, a whole new mindset and Travis takes you there.
Growing up surrounded by rhythm and blues, his calming melodic schemes and smooth, soothing vocals are sure to satisfy. Travis began as many musicians do; simply filling notebook after notebook with poetry. He began writing anywhere and anytime true inspiration struck him. Devout in faith, he then worked on the worship team before branching out with personal shows as he grew to perfect his sound and enthrall his listeners, bringing them into the moment.
"When I play live, I still get a glimpse of all the faces and feelings, each song has sent me through" - Travis Thornton
Live shows are inspiring, and he makes music fun; the way music is supposed to be. He never disappoints, and it’s clear he will always remember his roots as he makes jokes and really connects with his audience, seeming to have an individual relationship with each person. Moreover, his tunes will linger in your mind long after Travis has left the stage, leaving an impact and a desire for more.
Every chord comes directly from the heart, every lyric is dripping with meaning, and no word is sang without the utmost about of depth and feeling because he writes and composes each song with only feelings he has truly felt.
His story is unbelievable, which feeds his inspiring mind towards his music. With his creative use of symbolism, as a listener, you can never just assume his songs are straight forward. His songs of love make you feel like you have fallen for the first time. His songs of heartbreak remind you of yours. His songs of faith are inspiring and uplifting. No area is too broad for him.
Lyrically, he does not disappoint with his clever plays on words and hidden messages, always painting a picture and touching upon feelings that were once hidden within. His vocals are enchanting and real; you can relate to every song in some way or another while his sound is eclectic, a melodic blend of familiar and enticing rhythms of life’s journeys and emotions felt there.
Despite the individuality of each one of his songs, it’s not hard to see the role his diverse influences have played. If you enjoy the styles of: Shawn McDonald, Lifehouse, Edwin McCain, The Goo Goo Dolls, Dave Barnes, Rob Thomas, Matt Wertz and at times Gavin Degraw, you will appreciate Travis’ soulful, modern folk, acoustic sound.
Pulling out all the stops, Travis’ drive is inspirational and it’s easy to see with his potential that he is really going somewhere, and yet he stays level headed and modest about it, all the while putting true heart and soul into every note he plays.
Travis' musical journey is just beginning, but it's true to say that this promising singer/songwriter will be around for a very long time
