I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm just a guy, a pretty good and sincere (but realistic and cynical) guy. Been alot of places in the world (9 countries and counting) and most places in the U.S. Got a degree. Served in the military. Learned alot along the way.Currently enjoying my freedom to travel and have adventures by working in Iraq as a civilian. It is just job, not my identity...and it is temporary. But it has been good for enabling me to travel, pick up photography as a hobby, and wipe the slate clean on my student loans. When I've had enough of this adventure and have a little money in my pocket, I'll move on to the next thing. What will that be? Law school? Grad school? Some really cool job I actually WANT for a change? Could be any of those. Finding the love of my life and getting married? Doubt it, but hey...this is the Obama era now, where hope springs eternal.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I've already met everyone I want to meet, except whoever I'm going to marry. Wouldn't mind meeting her at some point.

My Blog

this photo appeared today in the "stars and stripes" newspaper we get here in Iraq.  If I were in the States, I'd be taking a trip to AZ just to see these newborn tiger cubs!  I just love these little...

Range day in Baghdad

Today I had a rare opportunity to actually fire some of the guns I fix.  You might be surprised to know that although I've spent years fixing military guns, I've rarely had the chance to actually do a...

Get ready for more gun control...

This morning I got really irate when I read a news story online.  It was about how our wonderful new Attorney General, Eric Holder, wants the old, expired assault weapons ban reinstated. That law, pas...

My new place in Baghdad

Well, after more than 24 months at Camp Anaconda, I've been transferred to the green zone in Baghdad.  This is the large part of Baghdad that was controlled by the US military from the start of t...

Christmas in Iraq 2008

So, here are some more "Christmas in Iraq" photos.   Back in 2005 when I first came here, I never dreamed I'd still be posting photos from Iraq in late 2008, but that's probably a whole sepe...

Finally! Major milestone today...

Today I submitted an online payment to finish paying off my consolidated student loans.  It is the final one and will give me a zero balance. This is a major milestone, in fact it is one of the m...
