Tyler and Brian decide to start a band. They come up with a name in 8th grade called "Antaeus". It turns out that "Antaeus" is the name of a French "Death Metal" group! Clearly the name needed to be changed. About a year later Tyler, looking throught the dictonary stumbled upon a cool (at the time) sounding word, the word was "Exurbia". Brian accepted the name, and they soon became "Exurbia". The band consisted of Brian Kassay (Lead Vocals, Bass), Tyler Liers (Backing Vocals, Guitar), and Juliana Tarry (Drums). Exurbia struggled and could not get anything going. Juliana leaves the band in the Winter of 2006. In the summer of 2006, Brian and Tyler decited to get together with Steve DeBellis (Drums). They soon added Native American Prince, Alex Galante on Bass. This made the line up consist of Brian Kassay (Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar), Tyler Liers (Backing Vocals, Lead Guitar) Alex Galante (Bass, Backing Vocals), and Steve DeBellis (Drums). The songs just kept pumping out when they realized that Exurbia needed to be changed. This band name has still not been changed and it's pretty gay. Alex quits out of the band in the Winter of 2007, and takes his PA back. The group cannot practice. Five long and soundless months go by.
As the legacy continues Brian's brand new Behringer PA sytem comes in the mail. The band is stoked. The band begins practicing once again, and new songs start to emerge which includes "(Variations On A Black Heart (All That You Do)", "Runaway" and "Chill".
The band realizes that the Bass role must be filled. Brian comes up with the wild idea of adding "The Man With The Perfect Voice" Dan Cohen. The only thing is, Dan can't play Bass! "I will teach him" said Brian. Dan Cohen is the current Bass player. Dan and Brian both take turns singing lead and things are going great! The current line up is Brian Kassay (Lead Vocals, Backing Vocals, Rhythm Guitar), Tyler Liers (Backing Vocals, Lead Guitar), Dan Cohen (Lead Vocals, Backing Vocals, Bass), and Steve DeBellis (Drums). If you happened to catch the Exurbia guys at Smithtown West Acoustc Cafe in Winter 08' you may have heard the new Dan songs called "I Stare No More" and "It's Not Your Fault".
It's been a while since I've been on this, so it's time for a new paragraph... so Brian's balls are close to done dropping. We have posted some new recordings up on the player, and we hope to have a concert or two posted before the summer comes to a close. You can catch us a Napper Tandy's in Smithtown on Wednesday nights starting soon and we hope to have an hardcore EP out by the fall. Please support us and not any of that garbage you see on MTV, because if you think about it... MTV is really just reality shows in this day and age.
We welcome anyone to come and listen to us. Just message, or comment us.
