The band is made up of Damon McBee (Bass Guitar/Vocals), Will Wails (Lead Guitar/Vocals), Bryan LaCombe (Pedal Steel Guitar/Electric Guitar), Coby McDonald (Lead Vocals/Acoustic Guitar), and Tracy Tyler (Drums/Vocals) .Texas born singer/songwriter Coby McDonald found an early love for music when he was enrolled in piano lessons at the age of 5. When he started the 7th grade, he began playing the trumpet in the middle school band. He continued playing the trumpet throughout his senior season of highschool and where he won numerous regional and state U.I.L. awards. He was offered several band scholarships but his heart was leading him in a different direction. Upon graduating high school, Coby had rekindled a dream he had as a child to pursue country music. At age 18, he went to his parent’s bank and persuaded them to give him a loan for $800. With this new found wealth, he went out and bought a guitar. Shortly thereafter, he loaded his truck and moved to San Marcos, Texas where he had enrolled in Texas State University. Being down in the Texas hill country provided a great setting for Coby to be around other singer/songwriters and learn what Texas country music was all about. Eyes and ears began opening all around San Marcos the next year or so as Coby began performing for small audiences and campus functions. His voice and music gained popularity and he was on his way. The Coby McDonald band was formed in 2003 in Dallas, TX. With school was behind him, it was time to take his music to the masses in one of the largest country markets in the country. In June of 2003, CMB participated in a battle of the bands even in Terrell, TX. Of the twenty bands entered, CMB ended up in a tie for 1st place. By 2004, the band was already playing nightclubs in Dallas/Fort Worth that were considered to be the top rooms or “A-Room†clubs. In 2005, CMB was recognized for their emergence onto the local country music scene and was nominated for 5 Terry Awards including ‘Songwriter of the Year’, ‘Male Vocalist’, and ‘Horizon Award’. The following year, CMB got the opportunity to be the opening act for national acts such as Merle Haggard, Dwight Yoakum, Tracy Lawrence, Randy Rogers Band, and others. The 2006 year was capped off when CMB was named “Dallas Band of the Year†by the Terry Awards. 2007 featured more of the same with the band once again winning “Dallas Band of the Year†for the second consecutive year.Today, the Coby McDonald Band is better than ever with fans all across the country. Playing over 180 shows per year, CMB’s music combines an old school honky tonk country sound with modern day, edgy, raw power. CMB music is currently being played on radio stations across north Texas. The band finishing up their first full length studio album with Comac Productions and is already generating strong interest from Nashville and independent Texas labels.
