Chemistry. Ask any Hip Hop head what makes a good duo Great, and no doubt "Chemistry" will surface somewhere in the conversation. Chemistry is the element that fuels Cleveland based hip hop duo Edotkom. Edotkom is the synthesis of two groups, Heiku Jihad Demigod from the band "Heiku" and Siege Sonofjorel from the group "Mentally Unrested".Formed in 1997 on the campus of Ohio State, the group has paid its fair share of dues. From sharing the stage with the Fugees, Talib Kweli, Def Squad, Mobb Deep, Heiro, the X-ecutioners, and countless others to rockin Scribble Jam, Columbus' Hip Hop Expo as well as being a mainstay in Cleveland's Kings of the Iron Mic series. These cats keep it movin. Building strong reps in the battle ranks helped solidify a regional following for Edot.The jump off release, the Quantum Sleep EP in 2001, established the crew as a force to be checked for in the future. Their official debut album, Obsidian LP, reached a larger audience and received critical acclaim from hip hop journalist in both print press and websites. Siege followed with a solo 12" Heart of the Game b/w Cyanide. The single was the ..3 added single the first week of release and rose to ..4 on the national college radio charts.Collaborations with notable groups such as Greenhouse Effect, Illogic, Mhz, Animal Crackers and the Risin Sons have added to not only Edotkom's diversity but Ohio's underground scene as well. Heiku building his name as a producer on the local scene paid off when he was recruited to produce a joint on Musiq's sophomore album Juslisen. And Edot is just getting warmed up.With a promotional tour for Heart Of The Game in the bag, ads and reviews in staples like Elemental and Urb, Edotkom is now primed to take their art to the next level.
