I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Layout by CoolChaserMy name is Raquel and I am a full-time writer (as well as full time Accounting Analyst for a worldwide Corporate IT Company).I spend most of my time writing (working on a lot of upcoming novel releases so that takes up a lot of time), editing magazine articles, helping launch an awesome company called The HELP Sister Network (www.helpsister.com). I enjoy hanging with my friends and family members (keeps me grounded and sane). I'm also a big movie buff (but mostly DVDs and not going to the theater), I like to shoot pool and go bowling and be a "Dancing Bear" (thanks for that distinction Cha-Cha).I love to drive, but I have a raging case of Roadrageacitis (go figure), so I don't get to do much pleasure driving anymore and have come to dread the whole driving process due to there being so MANY terrible drivers, guys napping while driving, unnecessary cell phone use while driving and many other conditions. MOSTLY, I want to say, "GET THE HELL OUTTA THE PASSING LANE, PEOPLE!!" If I ruled the world and everything in it, I would revoke everyone's driver's license and we'd all have to start over and take stricter tests in order to drive a car.My dream sports car is the Dodge Viper. I keep a couple diecast models of them here in my office to remind myself of what I want in life. Some women have "GOAL JEANS" in their closet to remind themselves what they are working out to lose weight for; I have a "GOAL CAR" that I need to fit into before my lifetime is complete.I am a weapons enthusiast. Thanks to my gun enthusiast father and law-enforcement step-father, I grew up around guns and have a healthy "affection" for them. I love going to the shooting range and I go as often with my dad and my other law enforcement/FBI friends as I can. I am an advocate of the concealed gun licensing program here in Texas (and anywhere else it applies). I think women should never go anywhere unarmed (not necessarily a gun...but with SOMETHING) because there are people...male people in particular...who think we are genetically predestined to be the victims of their sicknesses. I also think women should be licensed and stay up on practice. My dad and I go at least once a year to the gun show. That is some good fun! My favorite gun is a Desert Eagle .50 caliber pistol, but it would be totally illogical to carry a cannon around in your purse, so I've grown quite fond of the Baby Desert Eagles...so I had to get one. Schweeeeet! My mom says I'm gonna be like "Madea" (Tyler Perry's character) when I get old because Madea always carries her gun around with her and has such short patience that she is always popping off on people. Eh-eh...I would never pull a gun I didn't intend to use...so I won't be flying off the edge without a good reason.I like to go out but am allergic to smoke so I don't get a chance to club much (at least not until Houston's smoking ban goes into affect on September 1st - HOORAY)! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!I am on here to network, meet other writers, make some friends in the meantime, market, and really just about everything except DATE. Therefore, save the sending of the phone numbers (guys) and date requests. I appreciate the love, but can't give that kind of love in return. If you want to know anything else about me)...SEND ME A NOTE!

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

As for people in the public eye...I want to meet Oprah (can she just say my name on her TV show??), Denzel Washington (that's one sexy "older" man), Charles Barkley (because he's straight-forward, true to himself, funny, and honest...I like that in a man), and, a few other people. I also think it would be exceptionally cool to meet Raquel Eldridge, the super-awesome-o Rugby Player in the UK. So, if anybody knows her...push her this way. I want to meet all the women in the world who share my exact first and last name. There are lots of people I'd like to meet in regards to writing...but Stephen King is at the top of that list to me. I think a lot of everyday people are noteworthy enough to meet...so that means I'd be impressed to meet YOU. :)
