Hey, what's up? About me..Well..I work for a local courier/delivery company, started as a driver back in the early 90's-worked my way up the HUGE corporate ladder there, lol, and now I'm the Customer Service Mngr, and I really like my job. In the past I've made contact lenses and glasses, worked for a genius of a man named Carl Edelstein that got me started in that field way back in highschool through BOCES and beyond, whom to I am forever indebted for giving me a chance. Moved on to Pearl Vision Center for a number of years, jumped around to several local Eye Dr.'s/Opticians, and in the end decided it wasn't my calling. Spun pizzas and flipped burgers at the Infamous Rosies Pizza & Deli on Park St in Syr(long gone unfortunately)for about 6 years and loved working 2nd shift and partying all night and sleeping all day(those were the days!), but the pay sucked and you can only keep up that lifestyle for so long, and somehow segued my to Instant Delivery here in the present.
The other me-I'm a Guitar Player, I am passionate about my playing and my tone, obsessive/compulsive about gear and the need to acquire that-which-you-don't-posses-yet.lol. Its fun, the bounty that's on Ebay and at Guitar Shows is endless. I get called DanHalen alot, a tag way back from highschool days. I'm a member of an exclusive branch of law enforcement thats not very well known, except for a select few who recognize us. My best friends Chris Angiolillo & Dave Gallery and I were dubbed, "The Guitar Police" by a local- extremely talented and well known axe slinger, because we would show up to critique and question, and inevitably he would announce our arrival,"Oh great, the Guitar Police are here, better not f*ck up tonight".lol It's a badge we wear with honor.
Some band history: Played with the "Almighty Tempter" & Nick Fuoco for about a million years on & off, almost every Nikstock since Nunzi's in Oswego days-right up to 2008, minus a few years, played Nikstock West in California a few years ago, a zillion gigs at the old Fuoco's Lounge & The New Wolf Inn, and everywhere else in between. I have to thank Nick for giving me a start way back when, and all the great times I've had over the years and grateful for all the friends I've made and appreciative "fans" I've encountered. I did learn alot of lessons though, there are some people who are motivated purely by $$ and partying, as opposed to taking the time to thanking the help once in a while, or, say taking pride in one's craft and furthering one's musical talents. And others who you think you can trust, who somehow take words of praise and misconstrue them into something they're not, and can't see the forest for the trees. NO one in particular of course, just generalizations here. And, I've discovered, for every appreciative fan, there are at least 10 drunk and/or disrespectful idiots who don't give a rats ass about your gear, from stepping on your stuff and somehow unplugging you in the middle of a solo that you've got your mojo workin, spraying beer on your guitar, to just plain knocking one of your guitars clear off stage onto the lower ground, without a notice. Comes with the territory, so, I'm not crying or trying to sound bitter, just some observations. The good times outweigh the bad a million to one. Some short-lived bands-"Baby Faced Finster"/ " Suicide Charlie". My last band, ended early 2008/ best/favorite band- "True Grit"- oldschool Robin Trower,Pat Travers,ZZ,Mountain. Bill,Mikey,Gary, you guys are the best. Needless to say, I'm no longer in Tempter, and don't see me back there in any near future. I'm currently seeking the next project that will take me where I'm going.
Some of my favorite things, in case anyone cares: Mexican food, REAL Seafood from the coast of wherever; Middle Ages Brewing Co.- their Wailing Wench is my favorite redhead and flavor. I like Rumplemintz, Malibu Rum-cuz Candy who use to bartend at The Change of Pace got me and my buddy Rick hooked on California Mai Tai's-bless her blond heart. Webers on the North Side-cuz Michelle rocks soooo hard. My trip to Key West w/my bestfriend ever Rick Sixbury- we scuba'd & snorkled during the day & did the Duval St crawl every night(anyone who's partied there KNOWS. These days its Siesta Key,Fl & anywhere in Maine w/the family-consisting of my daughter and her mother, it's a really weird relationship, but that's a whole 'nuther story. Oh, and I have an incredible weakness/thing for Redheads. What is it about them? For some insight into that mystery, please read my self-authored piece here on my page. Oh yea, I watch PBS and listen to NPR and support both.
