About Me

So how'd we get started? Read our bio! Most bands when starting their bio try to explain to their readers how somehow they are unique from every other band just like them in some cliché way. Melisma refuses to have an intro like so, and will remain silent and let their music speak for them. Just like they believe every band should. Melisma started modestly, when in Tampa, Florida in mid-2005 A.J. Prasad (drums) and Chris Horan (guitar) found a common interest in their music and started casually jamming in their own homes together. Eventualy that led to their 8th grade talent show, and they started to realize they had something going for them. They could not have ever dreamed of what they just set a spark to. Before they knew it it was their freshman year in high school. They were young but experienced players that did not know exactly what they wanted to do, all they knew that is they wanted it to be heavy and hard. After weeks of practicing together, a long time friend Bryant Fuller left a now defunct punk band to play with the yet named boys to form a trio.Over the course over the next several months the trio meshed and did their best to prefect their sound. But they always felt that something was missing, and after time in deep thought they came to realize what that was. They finally concluded that it was that needed a vocalist and a bassist. So the search began, and finally ended with the talented Mitch Ingles, a year ahead of them, whose experience in other projects before proved to be vital. Now that the key component of a vocalist was in place, the band started writing songs, crafted their own form, and labeled it under the name of Melisma. While still young and inexperienced, their goal was none the less to create something progressive and enjoyable to listen to, and watch. After a few more months of practicing and the bassist search still in the works, they never the less put on their first show with local band Half-Way Hero. While it was only their first show they did not act so, working the crowed and performing to their fullest. After the show and a few more weeks of searching for the perfect bassist for their high expectations, they found an answer in Cory Fuller, two years ahead of the original trio but a long time friend none the less. Now the band was complete, but their growing was far from over.Though they were newly formed, the band had been close knit friends for years beforehand. They knew each other and knew what they were capable of. Having that from the get go, they were able to grow exponentially in a short amount of time. Growing included the realization that without God’s blessing none of this would be possible, and they vowed to give back through their music what He had given them.Soon after their completion they put up a small demo just to give fans a little taste of what to expect. The response was what was unexpected. Within a few weeks they had thousands of plays from a computer mic recording, getting the Tampa scene excited about its future; it embraced the arrival of Melisma. In August 2006 the band was ready to record their first demo. While unmastered and missing the bass drum, over the course of a few months tens of thousands of fans were able to listen pass the initial sound to the talent behind it. Today Melisma is already a power house in the Tampa Scene, playing with almost every other local hardcore/metal act in the area. The band consists of so much more then mere musicians. Bryant’s incomparable will of perfection intertwined with his crafty, catchy riffs that contend with professional musicians along with his upbeat vocals to bring a twist to the common day Metalcore song. Added with Mitch's abstract song writing skills and pure vocal adrenaline, he delivers sought tone towards the “perfect” hardcore sound. The drums, the backbone of any song, are preformed to perfection under A.J.’s precise precision, backed with a spectrum spanning from classical jazz to pure power metal he is able to accomplish this. Chris' musical knowledge takes the band even further into the progressive setting, brining to the table a complex style that the band is able to harness into a constructive force giving Melisma its distinct sound. Finally, Cory's ability to keep complex rhythm under wraps has Melisma continuing finding new scales unsought of in the metal genre. All this with the help of their unmatched stage presence, their thought out/talent driven/progressively charged songs, and their desire to achieve greatness, Melisma is undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with.
