ROLAND GRAND; an accomplished musician since age 9, living & performing in San Francisco since 1970. toured and recorded for 7 years as Drummer for the San Francisco based band: "LOOSE GRAVEL" featuring MIKE WILHELM (Guitar, formerly of the "CHARLATANS.") ROLAND GRAND formed the band STAROCK - "MUSIC FOR THE FUTURE" in 1977 with Monica West (Vocals.) STAROCK, then a 5 piece band, only performed for major charities, including: The American Cancer Society (Kezar Stadium,) Big Brothers Of America, (SF Hyatt Regency Hotel - "Grand Ballroom" for the Reggie Jackson Roast and Toast in 1978.) STAROCK is the first ROCK BAND IN HISTORY to ever perform at the Hyatt-"Grand Ballroom"(A historical fact.) STAROCK also performed for Bread and Roses at a "Delancey Street" dance benefit in 1979. Also in 1979, STAROCK co-hosted the 1979 EASTER SEALS TELETHON at KRON Channel 5 SF, in local segments for 24 hours and helped raise locally over $338,000 for JERRY LEWIS MUSCULAR DISTROPHY RESEARCH. STAROCK received a "Citation Of Merit" from JERRY LEWIS. STAROCK also performed that year at Berkleys: "POLI-BALLROOM," for THE SHICK CAN'T STOP DANCIN' MARATHON...and many, many more charities, all for worthy causes, Raising & Donating over 1 MILLION DOLLARS to Major Charities. In 1983, ROLAND founded: "STAROCK/SFTV PRODUCTIONS," creating a PRIME-TIME Cable TV SHOW that aired Fridays at 8:30 PM, called: S F T V-"SAN FRANCISCO TALENT VISION," for over 8 years. The show features local SF Talent playing their best songs, from THE WORLDS FAMOUS "MABUHAY GARDENS," a new wave nightclub, on the BROADWAY STRIP, in North Beach. Each half-hour SFTV show features 3 Bands, with live music and interviews, plus a video appearance by the creators of SFTV, the band: "STAROCK - Music For The Future." ROLAND did everything...including: choosing the bands who'd appear on SFTV, plus all of the videotaping, lighting, sound, interviews, editing, as well as making the STAROCK VIDEOS. Then ROLAND would volunteer at VIACOM PUBLIC ACCESS CHANNEL 25, airing the SFTV SHOWS, running "Master Control" (The top of the television pyramid.)
