Brian "Odie" Authement grew up in a musical family in Houma, LA. His brother Chris and sister Brandi are both extremely talented musicians. He began playing percussion at age 9, and taught himself to play guitar at age 15 after moving to Birmingham, AL. At the time, he was listening to Edwin McCain's "Misguided Roses" album, to which he owes his desire to sing. The rhythmic guitar playing coupled with smooth vocals inspired him to learn. He joined the youth choir at Green Valley Baptist church in Hoover, AL and started to sing. Within 6 months of learning guitar, he began performing in church and in various talent shows. As a freshman at Auburn University, he joined the band at Campus Crusade for Christ as a percussion player, where he played percussion, guitar, and sang for the next 4 years. In march of 2002, he started playing the Auburn, AL club scene as a solo acoustic act, doubling up with other local artists such as Atlanta's Cory Sellers. He has also performed live with J Records recording artist Gavin Degraw, with Ingram Hill and Sister Hazel. In December of 2003, he met and began playing with Dave McCool.
