About Me

I started my life in Gooding, Idaho on March 17th, 1974 and lived there until I was 2 years old. I am the second to the last of eight children (7 girls & 1 boy). When I was two, my family moved to Redmond, in Eastern Oregon. My memories of Redmond consist mostly of roller skating in the driveway (with those metal skates that clamped onto your shoes), and riding my bike up and down the street all day long. When I was a wee girl, ready to start the 3rd grade, my family moved to Florence, on the Oregon Coast. I loved living so close to the ocean - the salt air is good for growing boobs. We stayed in Florence until the summer before my junior year in high school, and then moved to Eugene, where I started school at Marist and met the love of my life (I didn't know Patrick was the love of my life back then). For my senior year of high school, I attended Sheldon, also in Eugene, and met some of my very best friends there. Everything happens for a reason.I have worked in a Take-N-Bake pizza parlor, been the supervisor at an assisted living residence, was a nanny in New Jersey, worked with autistic adults, was a waitress at the Buffalo Stockade in Deadwood, S.Dakota for a summer, was employed at a law office, and have pretty much worked in insurance the rest of the time. Why insurance? I have no idea. I guess because it pays the bills and has great benefits. When Patrick is done with school, I hope to finish my degree, although I don't really know what I want to be when I grow up. Patrick and I have been married for five years now and are still deliriously in love. We have a wonderful, smart little 2 year old boy named Oscar. Life is good.

My Interests

Spending time with my husband Patrick, son Oscar, and my friends, reading, SLEEPING IN (Patrick lets me do this every Saturday!), going for walks, camping, shopping, seeing local theatre productions, going to concerts, watching movies, attending my book club meetings, and spending time by water (rivers, lakes, waterfalls, and the ocean).

I'd like to meet:

Friends I've lost touch with. ARE YOU OUT THERE?! HELLOOOO?!..

Music:

Dave Matthews Band, Modest Mouse, The Killers, Cake, Beck, David Grey, Eminem, Paul Simon, James Taylor, Talking Heads, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Joanna Newsom, Chris Isaak, David Bowie, The Decemberists, Harry Connick Jr., James Brown, Norah Jones, Prince, Suzanne Vega, Tracy Chapman, and last, but certainly not least: Tenacious D.

Movies:

I love documentaries, independent films, and comedies the most - too many to mention. I joined NetFlix a few months ago don't know what I ever did without it. I love Jack Black (the dance he did in the movie High Fidelity?! Come on. The man is a genius). I drool over Joaquin Phoenix, and saw him recently in Walk The Line, which I loved. Some films I've seen recently and liked: Sideways, Brokeback Mountain, An Inconvenient Truth, Shopgirl, Hotel Rwanda, Junebug, and The Squid and the Whale.

Television:

Don't watch commercial television - gave it up in 1999. Since joining Netflix, we've been able to see some of the series that way. We loved the Sopranos, and are currently on season 2 of Arrested Developement - hilarious... width="425" height="350" ..

Books:

Reading a good novel makes me so happy. My favorite books are: Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole, and Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. I've also loved everything I've read by Augusten Burroughs (Running with Scissors, Dry, Magical Thinking,Possible Side Effects) and recently read and liked: Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, White Oleander by Janet Fitch, Shopgirl by Steve Martin, Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck, The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, and Ahab's Wife by Sena Jeter Naslund. I also have to admit that after making fun of my friend Laura for reading Harry Potter a few years ago, I've since read all the Harry Potter books multiple times, have seen all the movies and LOVE them all!!!

Heroes:

1. My husband Patrick - He is constantly inspiring me to be a better person. I am so blessed to have him in my life. 2. All the single parents in the world amaze me. How they do it, I'll never know.
