Samson Trinh) - Upper East Side Big BandBIOGRAPHY At 24 years of age, Samson Trinh's debut album, Very Strange Night displays his talents as writer, lyricist, arranger, orchestrator, bandleader, producer, and conductor! It also features Richmond, VA's finest musicians such as vocalists Terri Murphy, Adrian Duke, and Jackie Frost; trumpeter Rex Richardson; pianist Skip Gailes; and members of Agents of Good Roots, Bio Ritmo, Devils Workshop, Fighting Gravity, and Modern Groove Syndicate! In 1999, he attended the Berklee College of Music's Summer Program with a Music Scholarship. Samson has also received several Merit Scholarships from Virginia Commonwealth University where he has earned his B.M. in Jazz Studies. At VCU, Samson studied composition and jazz arranging privately with Doug Richards (founder and director of G.A.M.E.) and saxophone with Skip Gailes, John Winn, and principal New York Philharmonic saxophonist, Albert Regni. He is the winner of the 2005 Richmond Jazz Society's prestigious Joe Kennedy, Jr. Scholarship and was an alumnus at New York's Manhattan School of Music studying Jazz Composition with well-known composer, Michael Abene (Associate Music Director of the BMI Jazz Composers Workshop).Samson has composed, performed, collaborated and/or recorded with/for The Temptations, Al Jarreau, Nellie McKay, Fighting Gravity, Carlos Chafin (In Your Ear Studios), Robbin Thompson, Desiree Roots, Plunky Branch, Mulgrew Miller, Rudy Faulkner & F.R.E.N.S., John Winn, James "Saxsmo" Gates, the Richmond Jazz Society's Make Music with Me Band, VCU Jazz Orchestra I, and members of the Richmond Symphony.Adrian Duke Projek

Band Members: Wednesday, November 25, 2005 Samson Trinh & The Upper East Side Big Band performance of "Sing, Sing, Sing" at Upper East Side Jazz Lounge (owned by my parents) in Richmond, VA. This was the last night that this venue was open. Thanks to Sean Patrick and Brandon Mitchell for filming the show. Extra thanks to Brandon who edited and posted the film up.
