Band Members: Born and raised in the multi-cultural Northeast Calgary, Tarren’s love affair with music began at an early age. Whether it is taking organ class, spinning rock and soul records with his father, or singing in the boy’s choir, Tarren’s earliest memories were of music. The passion was there for all kinds of music but the first time he bought his Public Enemy-It takes a million tape, he was hooked on hip-hop forever. “I remember sitting in my basement making mixtapes when I was 8 or 9 years old†reflects Tarren, “I used to distribute them to my friends in Elementary school and they became quite legendary.†He wrote and performed his first song in grade 5 as a homework project and never looked back from there.
“In Calgary we never had an urban radio station. Only stations were country, pop, and rock. So if we wanted hip –hop music we had to search for ourselves. That’s why my musical taste is so diverse; we never had the machine telling us what to think. East coast, West coast, South, Canadian, International, who cares? It made no difference, we bumped what we likedâ€. As the high school years were passing by Tarren gained a reputation of one of Calgary’s fiercest emcees and battlers. He made the finals in both the STEP INTO THE ARENA and ELIMANATOR emcee battles. With appearances at over a 100 shows and battles Tarren’s a seasoned veteran when it comes to performing. Well known for his crazy energy and engaging live performances, opening for such acts as Nas and Bobby Valentino. From Rock to Desi, Tarren has also shared the stage with a wide range of musical acts. “I’m a Greek hip-hop head that grew up in a country city, in a predominantly east-Indian neighbourhood. It doesn’t get more diverse than that.â€
As one of the founders of Castleridge records he has been a huge part of both the Castleridge 403 and the Anti-Stereotype mixtapes. He has appeared on various projects throughout North America from Missouri to Ontario. This March the Tussin’ and Patron album with himself and King Jamez was released to rave reviews. There is also Tarren's hugely successful segment for the Fan 960’s Sportsline Saturday called Tarren’s Week in Review. It is a combination of Tarren’s unique and humorous sports takes over hip-hop beats. “The only thing that rivals my love of music is my love of sports. So it kind of meshed together, I’m glad people are feeling it.â€
2008 proves to be a big year for Taren. The video and single for Tussin’ and Patron’s , We get drunk, was released in April. The Hipocrite street mix Vol. 1 (mixed by Toronto’s finest DJ NaNa) has just been released and The Hipocrite street mix Vol 2 is hitting the people late August. “The reason I called it the Hipocrite is because it seems that our society as a whole is becoming more judgemental and hypocritical. There’s new scandals everyday from politicians to rappers, I find it quite funny actually. I’ll be the first to say that I am a walking contradiction, the best usually seem to be. At least I can admit itâ€
