Through the years, I’ve met a lot of people from all walks of life, made great friends and even lost track of some. However, all of this has shaped me to become the person who I am today.I currently live on the north side of Chicago, where I’ve resided for more than two years. I grew up in Central Illinois, AKA farmland, and moved to the Chicagoland area more than three years ago. It’s amazing how time flies when you are having fun. I absolutely love everything the city has to offer, except for the horrible winters.I’m a total summer girl. I love flip flops, skirts, tank tops, the smell of sun tan lotion and frozen poolside drinks. A good summer day for me is spent near any body of water, whether it’s laying out near Lake Michigan or boating in Missouri at my parent’s lake. One day the Chicago winters will get the best of me and I will head to warmer temperatures year round.I’m a former newspaper reporter at both daily and bi-weekly newspapers. I ended my newspaper career on top as I received an award from the Illinois Press Association for first place in the best news series category. Finally the dedication and long hours paid off.Earlier this year I crossed over to politics as I am currently a press secretary for the Illinois House of Representatives, where I work in both Chicago and Springfield. I also freelance for a local Chicago newspaper on the side as I just can’t shake the noisy reporter part of me.
