I have emerged as one of the NFLs most amazing stories. Just three years removed from a trip to the Elite 8 in the NCAA College Basketball Tournament, I have become a Pro Bowl tight end, an All-Pro and an NFL record holder. In 2004, I led the team with 81 catches, 964 yards and 13 touchdowns and was voted to my first-career Pro Bowl. My 13 touchdown catches set a new NFL single-season record for tight ends and tied for the second-most in a season in team history. I finished the year ranked fourth in the NFL in touchdown catches. When I signed with the Chargers in 2003, I havent strapped on a helmet or a pair of shoulder pads since my senior season at Central High School in Detroit. An up-and-down start to my collegiate basketball career sent me bouncing to three different schools, including Michigan State, before I finally found a home at Kent State. In two seasons for the Golden Flashes, I helped lead the team to back-to-back conference championships and left the Kent, Ohio campus as the schools sixth all-time scorer
