If you're not angry you're not paying attention

About Me

I am subversive, unique, and oh so original. I am witty and challenging to you as exemplified by this profound and insightful introduction that isn't a bit cliche or contrived. I am pedantic regarding my pets, pretentious regarding the world, preoccupied regarding my personal life, plebian by comparison, and pedestrian regarding work. Alliteration is good, or should I say pleasant? I am a great lover, world traveler, champion for the little guy, charitable contributor, master of the vernacular, innovative listener, vivacious volunteer, technology mutineer, punk-rock connoisseur, disorganized social dissident, and an agonizingly bad speller - Yet I am paradoxically simple...

My Interests

Music:

Firstly everyone should support local music!

Lists rock:

Styles: Oi, Punk, Old Country, Blue Grass, Fun Stuff and stuff that evokes an emotional response be it anger, energy, sadness, or euphoria.

Bands: Against Me, Hudson Falcons, Roger Miret and the Disasters, The Pogues, Tom Waits, Social Distortion (and Mike Ness solo), Bill Monroe, Ducky Boys, The Briggs, The Tossers, Andrew W.K., Pressure Point, Lars Fredrickson and the Bastards, Rancid, NOFX, propaghandi, Dropkick Murphys, Defiance Ohio, White Stripes, David Bowie, Cocksparrer, Iggy Pop, anything I find interesting.

Some local stuff: The Social Ills, The Baby Arms, The Smashed Glass (RIP), The Real DT's, Chubritza, Que La Chinga, The Rubberneckers, The Dirt Nap Band, and much much more... I need to get out more...

I changed my mind, I don't like lists, especialy ambiguous ones where I know I left something out and it will eat at me because I am compulsive and if I don't give credit to the bands I listen to and turn around five times and then switch which socks are on which feet they will not be able to find their next venue and will have a bad evening.

That wasn't very sensitive of me.

Movies:

Deleted for brevity sake...

I had my list of 100 here but things change man!

Television:

No thank you.

Books:

Wohoo! My husband told me today that he is going to allow me to learn how to read! Aint that grand! Maybe next I can put some shoes on!

I like words. Especially when someone organizes them on a large scale considering in a pleasing, amusing, and/or informative manner preferably in large enough type that I can read them before I go to bed, or while on the grimmy sofa that my dogs aren't supposed to but do sleep on when no one is looking BAD DOGGIES!

Science Fiction is good and so are mysteries and non-fiction of various forms... and free books, those are pretty sweet...

I think someday I would like to be a word organizer.

Heroes:

Ok, so there was this guy that I knew who everyone thought was really funny but it turned out that he had no sense of humor and was only funny if he could pick on other people and he and I argued about the term "hero." Gender confusion and grammar aside, his contention was that "hero" was a bad thing to call anyone because it elevated the individual to a level above human and above others and thus implied that some people have more intrinsic value than others. I disagree because I think that we need to see some people as better or else we will allow ourselves to just deteriorate into vile self-serving and self-aggrandizing uselessness. That is to say that perhaps saying that everyone is the same and equal, while good politically and a good way of looking at someone initially, is not necessarily a good thing for our society and culture. We need some impetus to improve and move forward. All of that aside I think that having heroes is a good thing but the way we define hero might need some alterations (I mean if you say Donald Trump I will KICK YOU IN THE...) and that guy I argued with was a douche.
My Heroes (a smarmy Sarah collective, in no particular order):
People who know what they want to do when they grow up.
People who drive bitchin' bio-diesel vehicles or ride bikes or take public transportation or hell just walk.
People who see that there is a world outside of themselves and who live in a way that acknowledges that they are aware of their own insignificance in the scheme of things.
People who can see both sides of an issue and can think about something before making a decision.
People who struggle everyday to do their best and to love their families and treat each other with kindness.
People who have a passion and do things because the want to regardless of others opinions and money.
People who are who they are and don't pretend to be anything else even when that means that most or some people don't like them.
People who are kind to animals and things that are weaker than they are.
People who can and do write music and songs and continue to do so even though it may never take them anywhere.
Artist who don't know that they are artists and would never claim to be one.
People with the skills that are truly essential to life, like who could survive is society collapsed or who can make tools and grow a decent garden or cook a meal from scratch on a stove.
Men who cuddle their children and cook them dinner without a second though about their masculinity.
People who can apologize when they should.
People who have and use basic manners and graciousness (especially those who can throw those manners completely aside when the situation calls for it and can tell someone who desperately needs it to fuck off, or something more clever).
Those folks who have been screwed by life but don't let it get to them. Like those with great talent that missed or ruined their big break or the guy who picked Door "B" and should have picked "A" so instead he got the boobie prize. Those who can be happy when life didn't turn out the way it should have.
People with extreme passions.
Those, who despite it all-- all the pain and suffering and bitterness there is to feel-- still want to love and see romance in life.
People who get excited about things.
More to come...
