About Me

How does one describe themselves? It's an interesting exercise. Well for starters I am have many different interests and talents. I am a creative person who enjoys drawing and doing graphic design. My creativity is not just limited to art however. I enjoy photography, video, crafts, and I play guitar and piano. I also am a web designer.I also enjoy being active and staying in shape. I work out regularly at the gym and also love to run, cycle, and swim. I have been a competitive athlete for many years, especially in running, triathlon, and tennis. I also enjoy playing ice hockey, golf, and doing yoga. My athletic endeavors also include coaching, which is my real passion. I currently coach ice hockey, cross country and track at the high school where I teach. I have also coached cross country and track at the collegiate level.Other interests that I have include reading and books. I love to read and love to spend time in book stores. I enjoy coffee, wines, and great conversation. I have pets: 2 cats and fish. I have a great interest in studying history and geography, which is also what I teach.

Anyone and everyone! I love to meet new and interesting people. However, I don't just add anyone as a friend, but only those people who I get to know and actually intereact with. So please don't just send a friend request without messaging me and getting to know me first or I will reject you. I really don't get the "let's see how many friends we can have" thing at Myspace!

Music:

I love many types of music and my iPod. I keep about 3,000 songs on my iPod, which I take to work everyday, and many places I go. I mainly listen to rock/classic rock and jazz. I will also listen to some pop, world music, classical, and new age. I am not crazy about a lot of the newer popular music coming out as I feel that it lacks good musicianship. My favorite artists include: The Beatles, Rush, INXS, The Police, U2, Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, David Sanborn, and Buddy Rich. I enjoy listening to live music as well.

Movies:

I enjoy movies, and my favorite genres are romantic comedies, and historical if done accurately. Some of my favorite movies are Apollo 13, Wall Street, Saving Private Ryan, Tequila Sunrise, Star Wars-the original and Empire Strikes Back, Miracle, When Harry Met Sally, The Hunt for Red October, any of the old James Bond movies, You've Got Mail, Ferris Bueller's Day Off (or any John Hughes Movie!), Bull Durham, Serendidpity, etc, etc. My favorite actors include Tom Hanks, Harrison Ford, Meg Ryan, Sean Connery, Mathew McConaughy, and John Cusack.

Television:

I mainly watch news and sports, but I also love documentaries, such as programs on the History Channel and the Military Channel. I also enjoy the series Modern Marvels and The O'Reilly Factor. As for shows for entertainment I currently watch the West Wing and Battlestar Galactica. My all-time favorite shows at different periods of my life were Magnum P.I., Miami Vice, The Cosby Show, the Simpson's, Beverly Hills 90210, Nash Bridges, and Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Books:

I could go on for a long time here! It would be easier to discuss favorite authors, as I could list hundreds of books. My favorite fiction authors are Clive Cussler, Tom Clancy, Lisa Jewell, Jane Green, Alexandre Dumas, Dave Shields, and Jeffery Archer. My favorite non-fiction authors are Neil Peart, Po Bronson, Bill Bryson, Chris Lear, John Feinstein, and many others. I love spending time in bookstores, especially a place like Borders where I can sit and have a coffee, check out some books, and have a good conversation.

Heroes:

So what exactly is a hero? It's hard to distinguish between a hero and someone you admire. I don't know if I have any heroes, but some of the people I admire that are living currently are: Lance Armstrong, Wayne Gretzky, Neil Peart, Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, Clive Cussler, Paul McCartney, Steve Jobs, Mike Kryzewski, etc.
