About Me

I don't like live fish; they scare me. But I love sushi...go figure. If I had a house, I would decorate it completely with pictures of trees - autumn, spring, and winter trees, in black and white and in color. I love trees. My favorite mnemonic device is alliteration. I go crazy for alliteration. Diddling with sentence structure is my idea of a rockin' time. I can never remember the definition of 'bemused' or 'existentialism,' no matter how many times I look them up. To know me is to know my friends and family, because I can't stop talking about them...especially my big bro. My own personal hell would be a life without books--Fahrenheit 451 style. I've been journaling since I was 11. I'm terrible at keeping in touch with old and current friends even though I love to write letters. I'm neurotic and obsessive compulsive about odd, miscellaneous things (i.e. don't you dare put your feet on my pillows, I alphabetize my DVDs, and I always want examples in threes). Oh! And I have absolutely no rhythm, but I do a wicked Elaine Benes impression and an even better Carlton.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I want to meet people who read shampoo bottles when they're in the bathroom, dance in the car, love espresso but can't drink it straight, can speak more than two languages (no, I can't, but I wish), surf (no, I don't, but oh, I want to learn), have visitepd Budapest, can kip up from the ground, can instinctively fix all types of machinery, own mutts they love, slay vampires, read so much they couldn't possibly pick a favorite book, are amiable with no delusions of superiority, enjoy Meditteranean food, teach or learn philosophy, and own galoshes. Any combination of the above is acceptable and I'm open to suggestions.

My Blog

What poetry means to me...

I love to read.  Everyone who knows me, knows this.  I love to plow through a book, wrapped in the plot, visiting places I've never been, meeting people I'd be terrified of or daunted by in real life....

Vacillating between excitement and nausea

I'm one week down and one week to go before my bod's flushed of the evil P'Zone.  So I'm starting to look into moving arrangements and job possibilities.  My 'rents have had a few bad experiences w...

Fingers crossed to ward off 'roid rage

Today I have great cause to celebrate.  I didn't take any steroids at all for the first time in a year and a half.  Of course, they won't actually be out of my system for another couple of weeks, s...

I wish I had an opus.

I just finished reading Stephen King's The Dark Tower 5: Wolves of the Calla.  It's part of a seven book series that spans almost his entire writing career.  Many of his other books are somewhat re...

Does anyone read blogs?

I used to be a little better about updating my blogs everytime I came online, but I notice that some people get a little too verbose (let's just say it: boring) when online.  I don't want to fall into...

Being broke is losing its allure

I'm over being bohemian.  I'm ready to have buckets of cash, and insurance, and a 401K plan, and a house, and security.  My phone bill and power bill are KILLING me.  And then there's t...

The waiting game

I'm back up on my meds, waiting and seeing if they're working. I'm hanging with T-lish today, waiting for her to get here. I'm cooking chili, waiting for it to simmer in my crockpot. And tomorrow I go...

The daily grind can have its upside.

I'm back at home and I'm okay with that.  I went back to work on Wednesday and fell back into my routine with surprising ease.  (Making bank that first shift eased the transitio...

Breaking out

In one half-hour, my parents are picking me up for lunch.  I'm so excited I could spit.  Priorities really shift when you're imprisoned. Also, Dad and I are traveling to an actual city tomor...

Not my health

The subject for this blog is not my health.  So here's an update on everything else that's going on.     I got to spend Christmas with my parents for the first time in four years.&...
