Ripple Magazine is the representation of youth generation’s criticism towards their own movements, culture, and lifestyles.
Is a culture
Is attitude
History
After all those years of the same old, outdated, creativity killer contents of Indonesia’s youth medias, some creative individuals from Bandung finally set off their way, making a breakthrough of publishing a magazine which contains fresh ideas, progressive lay out, and factual news.
Ripple’s first issue was published in April, 1999 as a pocket-sized magazine. On issue ..3, Ripple inserts a cassette bonus containing singles from the bands which are being interviewed in the magazine. In 2003, because of our readers demand for more entertaining articles about youth culture, Ripple made an extreme improvement by changing its size to a ‘real’ A4 magazine, which means : extra pictures, extra articles, and extra outstanding features.
The culture
Ripple is culture, so it’s also support itself by holding events like Ripple Show, which feature bands and DJs, and Ripple extreme sport Contests, or by sponsoring events like fashion show, parties, music gigs, or album and extreme sport video launchings. Along with the widespread of Ripple culture, many things exposed by the magazine has become popular icons among Indonesia’s youth generation. Bands that got their first exposure in Ripple, like Mocca, Rocket Rockers, Superman Is Dead, Koil etc, has become Indonesia’s new rock stars. Uncommon fashion coverage using ‘unique’ rather than good looking models soon were followed by other youth media. Even Ripple’s unusual sense of humor always becomes topics of the month amongst Indonesia’s youth generation.
