About Me
Ridiculously enough Iliya and Leech first met as members of two competing bands at a Battle of the Bands event in Sofia, Bulgaria. Couple of moths later, after their original bands have broken up, in November 1999, they teamed up to start a band - totally different from what bands look and sound like at that time in Bulgaria. The Bulgarian word “chvor†(pronounced “tch4â€) seemed as the one word that represents their aptitude towards the mass-culture and taste – it means kind of a weird, strong-headed person, someone who is despised for being different, a head-knot. That was a weird name for a weird band, a statement saying “we know we’re different, we know you may not like us but we don’t careâ€; stating their difference from the crowd and their indifference to the criticism for their alternative and ahead-of-its-time music and life stile.
Being passionate and capable musicians, the founders of CHVoR had set up highest standards for their song crafting and performance goals and for that reason it has been difficult to attract to the band fellow musicians who would step up to their expectations. Trying out several recordings with different people Iliya and Leech finally managed to get an old friend - Eddie back into music, at a time when he almost gave it all up and sell out his equipment. A couple of months later Iliya met Jellyfish at a French language course and this accidental meeting concluded the bands cast.
Recently Jellyfish had to take a brake from the band as he was facing some grave domestic issues, during which time CHVoR started a second - parallel music project to allow them to express the constantly pouring musical energy they have. This second project's called OLLIE
– a name to represent their affiliation to the Extreme sports community and life style, representing the leap they are making in their career, a basic X-sports jump move – diverse in utilization and across styles and utilities, a jump that can be really impressive if well performed. Under this second project the musicians have recorded “I Am†and “A Funny Feedback With No Intention to Offend†with Mescalito - a very talented young musician and a really cool friend who, unfortunately for the band, had different musical goals and later-on left CHVoR to start his own band Hyperqube.
After these events, the latest addition - Frankie brought to the band not only his exceptional musical skills and bright personality but also brought luck – Jellyfish has resolved his problems and was ready and anxious to get back on track.
These days, with more that 25 self produced original songs, eight years of experience as a band, a solid friendship and constantly growing fan-base, the musicians are not only working actively on their career development and several new songs, but also maintains two different musical projects CHVoR and OLLIE
allowing the band to express their diverse musical potential, across styles and boundaries.
