Influences: Ebanista is a bluesy roots, folk and jazz influenced project. This singer/songwriter imbibed the haunting and vivid feel of the deserts of southern New Mexico most of her life, taking in the traditional and experimental folk music in the region. Some influences include Patty Griffin, Jolie Holland, Ulali, The Waifs, Lucinda Williams, Cry Cry Cry, John Trudell, Johnny Cash, Robert Mirabal, Greg Brown, Iron and Wine, and Gillian Welch. At the age of 12 Laurel picked up the saxophone and the addiction to the sax has never stopped, bringing the influence of both big band and freeform jazz styles into her songwriting and playing including Ella Fitzgerald, Charlie Parker, Joe Henderson, The Brecker Brothers, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, and Billie Holiday.View Ebanista's EPK
