Keep Your Head To The Sky!

About Me

My daughter and my niece...more to come soon... :)
Cool Slideshows
WELCOME TO MY LITTLE SPACE ON THIS PLANET! :) I’ll try to make your stay comfortable and keep the music right ;) OH...and one more piece of info. you might like to know...I'M LONG-WINDED AS EVER lol. Yea, I can let the words loose when I want to lol..soo..if you like to read...then I got somethin' for you below. Otherwise...I'd advise you to just scrooooooooll on down...and pick out whatcha want lol. I promise...I understand ;) lol About me? Hhmmm…weell…I'm a pretty simple person. I've been told by those who know me well that I am pretty open-minded, easy to get along with, and an overall chill individual.
Throughout my 20's I was in the clubs all the time, but as I approached 30, I began to become a professional homebody lol. Naw, I do enjoy staying at home and relaxing, but if I do go out, I just prefer something different. A different scene then the clubs. How about some spoken word sessions, movies, amusement parks, sporting events, special shows...whatever – as long as its not the same ol faces, in the same ol clubs, with the same….ol..music that I could hear on my radio…FOR FREE (and in slippers rather than some heels killin’ my feet tryin’ to look cute haha)
Overall, I'm a pretty chill individual, who is just trying to enjoy life. Born in Toronto, Canada, and raised both in Toronto and Bermuda. I’m a self-proclaimed INTROVERT with many EXTROVERT tendencies. This just means that I’m relaxed by nature but when prompted...I can get a lil’ wild. I’ve been through quite a bit in my life thus far, but I rather continue to live as though I have more to learn...which keeps my mind and eyes open and helps to keep me grounded and humble. THE 3 LOVES OF MY LIFE:MY DAUGHTER– 12 yrs old...and she provides me inspiration every single day to be a better person for the both of us. I take my role as a parent very seriously in an effort to ensure that she grows into a true…virtuous…honest...and loving woman. I’m telling you...the rewards of a successful CHILD far outweigh the rewards of a successful CAREER! LOVE, IN ITS TRUE FORM – the ability to LOVE someone, and to BE loved by someone is the most incredible feeling you can give and receive. I don’t use or accept the word "Love" easily. The word has simply become so..."norm" and is used without meaning behind it by so many. I respect the magnitude of this word, and use it accordingly. MUSIC – WOW! What a topic. For as long as I can remember…music in so many forms & genres, and from so many generations has engraved itself within my soul…permanently. The TRUE art of music fills me with energy, motivates me, educates me, welcomes me into intimacy, heals me, and gives me a high when I’m in need. From the days of Sarah Vaughan and Billie Holiday to The Ohio Players and The Manhattans, to Stevie Wonder, George Benson and Rick James to Pharcyde and Troop to Geru the Damaja and Brand Nubian to Playa and Mary J. Blige to Eric Roberson and Musiq...to Havana and Darrien Brockington...to Foreign Exchange and Nicolay...to Common and Mos Def...to J. Dilla and...MAN...the list is LITERALY endless. I LOVE IT ALL and will continue loving and supporting those who deliver music that is TRUE to it’s ART! Throughout my 32 (wow! lol) years on this planet, I have been blessed with advice, positive influences, and inspiration in many forms. The following is just...a little piece of what a have taken in, and that I wanted to share: "Her worth cannot be known in a moment, but it will show in a crisis. It is then that a man will know she is authentic and not fraudulent. It is then that life portrays so well the difference between rhinestones and diamonds. It is in the crisis of life that a lady herself begins to realize the magnitude of her own creativity. During each crisis, she is appraised and her value only grows. With every test and trial, she appreciates and is appreciated. But the greatest appreciation that causes her to be whole must come from within her before it comes from around her. She must know that she is a woman of excellence. Not a woman of arrogance, but a woman of excellence. This is the spirit of a virtuous woman. The Lady, Her Lover, and Her Lord - Rev. T.D. Jakes "So many of us are so afraid to die, we fail to live. We will not take chances when they present any form of risk. They are too dangerous. Danger can lead to death. We may be afraid to drive, afraid to fly. Too afraid to say yes. Even more afraid to say no. We are afraid to be alone. Even more afraid to go out. When we don’t LIVE because of the fear of dying, we DIE without ever having LIVED. "Faith in the Valley - Iyanla Vanzant SOME QUOTES OF MY OWN
"The quicker we all realize the GREAT GIFT called LIFE that we’ve been graced with, the quicker we will realize how LITTLE there is to complain about!" "Love the life your in today...right now...because you might not be so blessed...tomorrow." "Even when you don’t have FAITH in HIM, He will always have FAITH…in YOU!”

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

However, I am down for meeting anyone who...is just chill within themselves, has a good sense of humour, enjoys music...a lot lol, and...I dunno...just anyone that is REAL with themselves and insists on doing the same with those they surround themselves with.

Movies:

ALAAAAS...I use to be a movie buff...but over the past couple of years, I just haven't gotten out there to the movies like I use to. I'm gonna try to make 2006 a year of "GET OUT AND SEE A MOVIE ALREADY!" Check back with me about this in December ;) Some movies that I have really enjoyed and could literaly watch over and over again are: Lean On Me (loved that movie since I was in high school!!), To Sir With Love, Casino, An Officer and a Gentleman, Lady Sings The Blues,Usual Suspects, Mahogany, Carlito's Way, any of the House Party's lol, Something about Mary, The Five Heartbeats, Do The Right Thing, A Christmas Story (you know the one - it's the CLASSIC with Ralphie and that damn Red Rider Bee-bee gun haha..came out around...late 80's I think)and...The Three Amigos (I watched this movie..IN THE THEATRES...like 14 times - NO LIE. Could still watch it today and it will STILL crack me the hell up lol)

Television:

I'm an A/E (i.e. The First 24), TLC, Discovery Channel type of girl. But, I am also an addict of House, "24", Prison Break, DEAL OR NO DEAL (come on noooow, you KNOW you love it too!!) and can even gain some enjoyment off those "Nanny 911" shows - its just something about them...when I watch them...they make me feel MORE sane lol. Oh...and I can't forget Family Guy...and even Cheaters when I'm REAL bored lol.

Books:

I enjoy books that I can relate to. Books that can get all up inside of me and truly make me feel what they are talking about. Books that open my mind and allow it to learn new things...about myself and what I can acomplish.
Some titles that I have enjoyed:
"The Spirit of a Man" - Iyanla Vanzant
"The Lady, Her Lover, and Her Lord" - Rev. T.D. Jakes
"The Prisoners Wife" - Asha Bandelee
"Faith In The Valley" - Iyanla Vanzant
A couple that I would like to read in the near future:
"True To The Game" - Teri Woods
"The Coldest Winter Ever" - Sista Souljah

Heroes:

A Hero...wow..you guys have some questions for us, huh? Okay... a hero. I consider those that are closest to me to be my heros. My daughter, my sisters, my mother, my grandparents - and life-long friends of mine. They have all been there throughout my growing up, and have helped to form me into the woman I am today. Many of them (not unlike most of us) have been through many levels of trial and tribulations throughout their lives - but yet...continue to push on. Always believing that there is SOME way through...you just...gotta want it bad enough. They continue to inspire me and show me new ways of looking at things and appreciating things. So yea...those that love me the most...and have shown me positive and productive paths in life...are my heros! ;)
