A mind is a terrible thing to waste, so if you're not using it, please donate it to my neuroscience

About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4

My Interests

Acquiring knowledge other than through Academia. I am tired of learning about someone else's idea of how the world works/should work. Love my dog! Outdoors: Gardening, hiking, horseback riding, fishing, camping...I'm also a quilter. My quilting specialty is celtic knotwork, but do all kinds. I love to travel and am dying to get to Scotland and Ireland. Also and very importantly, I am into cars--vintage and cool ones. Don't talk to me about your new Mustang if it's not a Shelby or Roushe or equivalent. Oh yeah...I can't forget the neuroscience. Can't get enough on this stuff; it literally is part of everything we are and that we do.

I'd like to meet:

Hmmmm...historically, my grandfather and other ancestors, Da Vinci, William Wallace, Queen Elizabeth (the FIRST one, not the frump in the castle now--even if she is an effing blue blood!),Einstein, maybe a few more. People with real ideas and convictions that were/are willing to do whatever it takes and with novel approaches.I'd like to meet Tom Cruise if I could tell him that HE is the ultimate mind-f**k, not the other way around.I enjoy meeting people that have depth and intellect and do not regurgitate spoon-fed factoids, but can indeed think for themselves. I'd also like to meet some members of my family that I have no contact with.

Music:

Eclectic...love many kinds of music, many artists. Especially the Zep! Saw Dylan this summer, but could understand only every 10th word! His new album is awesome, though. Too many more to name here.

Movies:

Waiting for something REALLY gripping to come out...like Get Smart.

Television:

I love House and his ascerbic and fantasy-based approach to medicine. Even better, the medical shows Diagnosis Unknown, Medical Incredible, etc. Yeah, I'm a nerd. The hardest to admit to is American Idol. My favorite part is the auditions. Music channels!

Books:

Historical novels, select novels, biographies, politics, neuropsychology. Currently reading the new John Adams biography.

Heroes:

My dad! My sons! Soldiers! My friends who have survived life threatening illness and situations. People that speak the truth in the face of consequences.Anti-Heroes: Mean people. Disloyal people. People that hurt each other because they CAN. People that lie. People that judge others--especially judgments that belie shallow values, like looks or money. And let's not forget the religious zealots that claim subjective truths. People that refuse to deal with what they have to deal with and get stuck in their same old ruts. Move on, people! Life is in drive, not neutral!
