I love nature, and natural wonders. When I say that, I don't mean break out the guidebook and figure out the best way to the Grand Canyon (although that and the desert are AMAZING). I appreciate the small wonders too: The miracle of a dog's unconditional love and its abundant joy when you return home; stopping to see and appreciate the way a shadow falls and creates shapes against an uneven surface; the way the surface tension holds nearly 2mm of water on top of a penny left out in the rain. It's no wonder that I am so fascinated by the little, often overlooked creatures when diving. Don't get me wrong, I like the big creatures too: seals, whales, rays, sharks, etc. Get me started on shark diving in Fiji and watch me glow!
I'm one of those "happy" people. I believe that perspective is everything. There is always a positive spin to things, even (and ESPECIALLY) in our most trying times. Yes, it's sometimes hard to access the positive viewpoint when in the midst of a challenge, but just knowing, and believing, that there is good to come of what you are experiencing, can help give you the strength to benefit from the situation.
I thrive in an open environment where people allow themselves to be honest and vulnerable. That is where intimacy occurs and when true profound exchanges can begin. Our fear boundaries are our biggest limitations -- yes, there are some fears that seem to be instinctual and meant for survival -- but the challenge is to see which are truly instinctual, and which are learned fears. ... and of those, which are for the protection of life, and which are for the protection of our ego. Then again, sometimes pushing the fears for corporeal survival can yield amazing results. Ask anyone who's gone skydiving or walked on fire. Yes, you can do anything you set your mind to!
As much as I love communicating and enjoy the power of the word, I don't expect every interaction to be verbal. I enjoy movement and activity as well as silence and stillness. You'll see from my menagerie of films, I enjoy visual imagery. I'm very at peace with sitting and watching a film (and an occasional bad movie) in the theater or at home (some *have* to be on the big screen though...), or dancing, or sharing a drink, or just sitting/lying/cuddling and reveling in the presence of loved ones.
