About Me

I'm a songwriter and folk singer who reads avidly and pays too much attention to politics. A year ago I married Tiffani Ginn, a beautiful woman with a big heart and phenomenal musical talent. We spend a lot of our time touring with Tiffani's sister Brit, (they are The Ginn Sisters) playing music all around the country. If you like great singing with sister harmonies and great songwriting in the Americana and Country school, you must check them out. You can find out more about that at www.billpassalacqua.com and www.theginnsisters.com. When I'm not working hard on music business, I try to get outside and walk around the Town Lake, ride my bike, fly our kite, swim in Barton Springs. Once every year or two, I go hiking in some stunning location with my friends Darin, Keith, Erik and Steve. So far we've to Copper Canyon in Mexico, The Brooks Range in Alaska, Canyonlands Nat'l Park in Utah, Escalante Nat'l Park in Utah, and in the Cascades in Washington. I come from a family band, The Poss Family Band, in Effingham, IL. My dad taught me to play guitar while I was in grad school at the Univ. of Illinois. He plays banjo, my brothers all play guitar, bass, mandolin and etc., my neices play fiddle and we all sing. We also have an uncle Fudd, Bill Martin who sits in on guitar and mandolin. My brother Matt Passalacqua has a band called Matt Poss and The Wild Bunch. If you like Country and Americana music, especially the Steve Earle/Johnny Cash end of things, check him out at www.mattposs.com.

The death of capitalism?

I was listening with amusement to newscasters analyze comments by a Russian official that the US will collapse by the end of 2010, or some such nonsense... It seemed a bit premature and reminded me th...

Job Growth

Isn't it time to talk about the Republican brag that the Bush Admin. presided over the record 55 months of consecutive job growth? Doesn't it ring a bit hollow about now with the economy in rubble and...

Decisions, decisions

As I look back on my mid-length life and wonder about the decisions I have made, I think also about the nature of decisions. Is it more important to make good decisions about who to vote for or what s...

I read yesterday that the downturn in the American standard or living is permanent. We should get used to getting by with less, it read. Well, besides the fact that I'm already used to getting by with...

Operation Rushbo to the rescue??

I've been thinking for some time that the 'confidence factor' is very important for our economic recovery. It's one of those 'if you believe' moments, where if everyone gets on board and pushes to suc...

Single Payer~ As long as we are socializing the banks...

I just read a great article in Harpers about a single-payer health system. I'm enthused. I'm not optimistic that it's what we are going to get, but I think it is 'the answer'. As one of the nations un...

Equal Pay for Equal Work

My wife and I have spent our early morning talking about women in music. We wonder why there are so few mid-level female acts out there. Specifically, I was trying to find some balance in my booking f...
