The family living off of welfare and food stamps slowly made progress. The seed grew and in his early adolescent years grasped the world of rap music with influences such as Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg, Scarface, and the Wu-Tang Clan. He started rapping just for fun in school, between classes, in the lunch line, talent shows, even on the block. Until one day his father asked him, "Do you actually want to pursue a career in rap music?" He had never actually thought of doing it as a career, but liked the idea. He and his father thought of the name Kadi. It was a reference from the car "Cadillac" for it being the most wanted item in the hood. Kadi added the Young to his name because he was always the youngster hanging around the O.G.s; he also created other aliases for himself including "Lil' Uzi", "Rambo", and "The Prince of Houston" after his "weapon of choice", one of his favorite movie characters, and his self titled character in the city of Houston, Tx respectively. Young Kadi released mix tapes Summer of Kadi 1, 2, and 3 when he was in high school, which were all instantly successful for the inspiring young teen. "We would go to school every day with about 20 to 25 CDs and come home with no CDs left and $100 plus in our pockets, everybody knew us." "Us" meaning him and his crew, Kadi along with his brother Arcade and childhood friend Drei created 4sho Entertainment. The name came from the crew's constant use of the phrase "Fo Sho". Kadi was the only very serious rapper out of the crew, but because of the crews bonds they all pushed him to make more and more music. Kadi won consecutive freestyle battles in talent shows wining money and gift certificates. Kadi recruited more of his boys from the hood to make music with him. Artists such as Young Dez, and Lil' Mac. Kadi sights his influences as his family, the city of Houston, Texas, Tupac Shakur, and the struggle. "Of course I love my fam' more than anything else in this world, they're my number 1. Houston, Texas was the actual reason I started to flow because no one was reppin' the "H" commercially and I wanted to do it. I still want to and will because these BFI certified rappers is embarrassing us. I just feel Tupac's music so much, no other rapper did, does, or will ever be as great lyrically, emotionally, and delivery wise. He was a real mufucka, I'm a real mufucka, real recognize real. I'm from the struggle so you know I still do it for everyone in the hood goin' thru them things, keep yall heads up." In early 2008 Kadi announced he is affiliated with G-Unit, not signed to them,"I'm affiliated with them, I'm not signed to them....Yet! haha, yall just gon' have to wait and see what happens."
