In 1996, Nas dropped If I Ruled the World (Imagine That), the Lauryn Hill-featuring This Was Written single that became the now-legendary rapper’s first mainstream hit. The emcee’s joined forces with Smirnoff to kick off the popular vodka brand’s second annual Signature Mix Series with If I Ruled the World 09, a modern day revamp that serves as a lyrical sequel to the original. Floetry alumnus Marsha Ambrosius contributes a soulful bridge as well as tackling the Fugees icon’s hook, while Son’s of Light (Dustin Moore & J Myers) reinterprets Trackmasters Ent. and Rashad Smith‘s production, serving up a synth-centric beat featuring scratches by turntablist Brian Delaney.

Gig Review by Chris Schulz of Stuff.co.nz 12/2/08
Queens Bridge rapper NAS ripped through around 50 tracks in an hour during a breathless set of what he called "real hip-hop".
Nas and his energetic live band (MULATTO) won the crowd over quickly during their first New Zealand visit by playing plenty of tracks from the classic, genre-defining album Illmatic, including It Ain't Hard to Tell, Life's a Bitch and The World Is Yours.
There's no denying Nas has got flow, and he hardly took a breath during the Barack Obama-celebrating Black President and the acapella close to Made You Look.
Kanye West may have given up on hip-hop on his new album, but NAS proved that when it's done right, it can be just as scintillating as any other form of music.

Glow in the Dark Tour in New Zealand. 12/2/08
It was an unforgettable night.. NaS definitely stealing the show for me but Kanye also doing what he does best, and both pulled out the classics and the newer hits that everyone went crazy to, as we do here in Auckland. Also, gotta give mention to [the band] MULATTO which accompanied NaS. I’d heard about them before last night but I now rate them so highly, energetic doesn’t even begin to describe their vibe.

I am Mr. Moore, the father of Bassist/Music Director/Composer/Producer Dustin Moore. This site promotes MULATTO , Dustin Moore, Sons of Light Muzik and The Real Music Movement.
In many ways I feel like a "parent" of Mualtto. My goal was to promote real music and that is what Mulatto is doing.
Real Musicianship & Lyrics creates Meaningful Music – REAL MUSIC!
Today the music industry has computer technology, so producers and record labels may not see a need for real musicians.
In the past, recording with instruments came from the ranks of people who played live. There was an economic incentive to play instruments. Now, we’ve reached a point where that is not happening.
Today’s music industry has become accustomed to Pro Tools, referring to the computer program that can convert sounds into digital information, simulate instruments and can correct a singer’s pitch or a drummer’s timing.
Computer programs have also freed producers to create music and do sequencing, then call in musicians if there is a compelling need for them.
Everything is specialized now and that does not leave a lot of room for real musicians.
Music that is recorded with synthesized instruments and even vocals, are nowhere near as moving as the organic sounds of drums, organs, tambourines and other instruments played creatively with human hands.
This decline in musicians and in real music is cause for alarm and it will not be changing any time soon. We must fight to swing the pendulum back.
That means parents must step up and provide music lessons for their children and battle with school districts to keep or create music programs. Churches must continue to support musicians and singers and continue to be places for producing sacred and secular music. In addition, music fans must support live music and real musicianship.
Don’t sacrifice Real Music to technology and neglect. Creativity and time spent sharpening musical skill with an instrument matters.
Just ask Mulatto!
Real live musicians performing with real instruments to create real music, a more meaningful music.

What does “real music†mean?
The Real Music Movement focuses on “real†music, simply meaning music that involves craft. Music that was created primarily from the heart, by those who clearly love what they do. That is, real musicianship & lyrics performed by real artists. So often these days the music schedulers, producers and promoters have fallin short in offering the very best music ever made. We are given the same selection of music over and over again. If artists like Mulatto can provide some great music to a whole new generation of listeners, then they have achieved their aim.

Suprise treat! On Wednesday, July 25th, at the Grammy Camp, Mulatto members Dustin Moore and Margis Miles performed with one of Mulatto's favorite bands, Earth, Wind, and Fire. This was a dream come true. Songs performed were Boogie Wonderland, Let’s Groove Tonight, Shining Star, and September. Participants had clinics with EWF musicians and singers, open discussion and forum, and then a big show on stage with the entire EWF Band. See attached photo with Dustin Moore performing with EWF Bassist Verdine White. It was an awesome jam ses
