About Me

Formed in 2005, The Second Fiddles are a New York based trio in the tradition of the great stringbands that performed at the turn of the century. The artists that traveled with the medicine shows were adept at all genre's of American roots music. The Fiddles pull from the song books of Country, Blues, Bluegrass, Gospel and Swing bands of the 20's, 30's and 40's.The Second Fiddles have appeared on WKCR's Honky Tonkin' Show, WFDU's Traditions with Ron Olesko and the Sheriff Sessions along with Chris Thile, Michael Daves and The Infamous Stringdusters. They've shared the stage with The Hunger Mountain Boys, The New York Dolls, Del Rey, Mary Flower, The WIYO's, Delta Dreambox, The Jack Grace Band, The Sweetback Sisters, The Moonlighters, The Two Man Gentleman Band, Carrie Rodriguez, Mike Dowling, Steve James, Rich Delgrosso and The Carolina Chocolate Drops.Their bi-monthly revue of local and national acts THE ROOTS AND BLUES ROUNDUP has gained notoriety and been listed in The Daily News as one of New York's TOP FIVE Coolest Concerts. Come and experince the best in Americana and Early Roots Music.Past and present collaborators have included Miguel Weissman (harp) of The Cangelosi Cards, Peter Ford (washtub bass) of Loose Marbles and the Mad Jazz Hatters, Gerry Yoselevich (tuba) of the Booglerizers, Timothy Dick (Piano) and Bliss Blood (vocals) of Delta Dreambox, Clarence Ferrari (fiddle) of Blue Harvest, David Lightborne and Delmark Goldfarb.
